Singapore......what to do? (1 Viewer)

Will spend about a week there for work, leaving next Sunday. Should have some free time, especially evenings and maybe even a free day or two. Anyone been there with some must do suggestions. Places to see, eat, drink, experience?

Samy's Curry is one of my favorite meals ever, as is the chili crab at No Signboard. Everyone has a favorite chili crab place; I've had it at several different locales and this was my favorite.

Also do the Maxwell Street Market for an incredible cheap meal of chicken rice.

There aren't a lot of fun things to do IMO but the Singapore Gardens by the Bay are a must, and I'm not usually into gardens. Have a drink at the top of the Sands hotel while in the area.

Speaking of drinks, a Singapore Sling at the Raffles hotel is also a must. The drink is a little disappointing, but you have to do it for the tradition.

Thanks for the tip. I will check it out.

Eat. The food in Singapore is excellent from no frills hawker stands to some of the finest restaurants in Asia.

The Long Bar at Raffles is touristy but it's kind of cool.

Singaporeans love to shop. I haven't followed the exchange rates but even if you don't buy stuff, Orchard Road is good for people watching.

Sing 1.44 to a buck. Thanks for the suggestions!

Another vote for Long Bar. And even though it is a very gay drink you must have a Singapore Sling. And some peanuts in the shell.

You should have chili crab while you are there, and Malaysian curry.

The Amara hotel in South Point used to have an excellent (seriously, one of my favorites) Thai restaurant, it may still, I haven't been by there for about four years.

High tea at Raffles is also a very touristy thing to do.

Four floors of whores ;)
Any recommendations on which floor to experience?. :oldunsure:
The Orchard Towers, aka, four floors of whores, is littered with bars, restaurants, and as you might have guessed, women. Go in the evening. Overall it's a pretty nice scene, you won't get mugged or anything like that. There is the ipanema, which has flat screens for sports games. I don't know much about you but if you like to go out or going out with guys this would be a great place to kill a few hours in. If you are on a budget it's not your place to go to, the drinks are a little expensive but when you get what you pay for. I would say the experience is worth having, there is nothing in this country here like it. Word of caution: if you are bringing a significant other with you it might not be your spot. As a lot of people have mentioned, they do have great food, don't eat a hamburger!
