Single greatest act of kindness another board member has done for you (1 Viewer)

I will start. Z Machine, who I had not met, basically gave me the keys to his place in Madrid when I was on vacation, putting me up for 3 days or so and allowing me to come and go as I wanted. He showed me around, and was able to give me the local's perspective. Very cool of him! And I paid him back by helping to get him ####ed up the last night there, knocking on his door around 10 and asking if he was planning on going to work :goodposting:

Fasteddie21 went though a lot of trouble to the the FBG WSOP trip off the ground. I already had plans, but he did a great job as I understand it.

I would have been really stumped for an answer, but thank goodness you started that thread about the most annoying shtick in 2007.

I would have been lost without it.

Thanks GB. I don't know how I'll ever be able to repay you.

I flew in to Chicago in early August...

With just a couple of days notice Krista was able to score me a bleacher seat at Wrigley for a Friday afternoon game between the Mets and Cubs....

I got to see the one ballpark I had been dying to see and got to see Eddie Vedder throw out the 1st pitch and sing Take me Out To The Ballgame...

Very, very, very cool of her...

Koya has also been nice enough to let me crash at his place a # of times when I was too ####ed to get home...

:lmao: there also...

All in all FBG has really come through with a bunch of people I would consider friends (even if only the ivariety, and some who have become B&M friends)

PSD sent me an awesome "film" in the mail once. It was a little tough to explain the source to my wife.

Krista4 helped me find a secret santa gift for Rudi Stein which was really nice of her.
Krista is good people. She sent me a book out of the blue a month or so ago.

During the week after Katrina, cgrdrjoe and jplvr both came through for me. cgrdrjoe is in the coast guard and was deployed near new orleans. During that time, I called him a few times giving him the names/addresses of a few people I knew who were missing at the time. They ended up turning out ok, but the effort was much appreciated.

Also, my grandmother lived in Biloxi and we couldn't get in touch with her for like 5 days after the storm (cell phones didn't work)....jplvr was going down to Biloxi to help out one of my friends. He agreed to drive past her house to check if she was ok. About a few hours before he was supposed to get there, we got a call from her and everything was fine (other than her broken hip)

very solid by both of those guys during some rough times :goodposting:

The fun answer of course is.....Tremendous Upside selling me his 2nd ticket to the Peral Jam Fan Club only show .....best concert I've ever been to :D

I've received countless other acts of generousty and advice that has saved me time, money, aggrivtation, etc....than I could list.

Wasn't "kindness" per se, but definitely impressed when Krista sent me the money on a contract I didn't think was serious.

Keys Myaths (sp?) loaned me his copy of the Packer/Bronco Super Bowl on VHS so I could transfer it to DVD for a fairly important client and major Bronco fan.

Scupper let us hang @ his cabin, drink his booze and bathe in his lake last summer.

Major props to him.

Also, eaten and played cards @ Dante's Kitchen in NO, hosted by our good buddy Tipsy.

in Vegas for WCOFF weekend...TigerFan got up at like 6am and saved a bunch of seats in the Venetian sports book so we could watch the opening Sunday games in comfort.GB him too.

Rudnicki recorded, converted and then found a way to host some stupid TV show I was on a while back.

Doctor Detroit told me he thought he loved me when I came up with the Mason Dixon argument on why I thought Oklohoma was a southern state... and told me my Indian Territory map shtick was 5 stars.

Finless sent me Cuban cigars.

When I needed an extra person to round out a foursome for free golf, free lunch, free drinks and free dinner, proninja graciously showed up, shot a decent round and helped us get drunk.

my man otis found me a great restaurant to bring the family to for christmas when we were in NYC last year. Very appreciated. Same for the many other suggestions received in the thread.

Big Tex helped get some spyware off my computer, after some PMs he just gave me his cell number, when he answered I told him now know why they call you Tex. The help was much apprciated.

Earlier this year I shaved my head for St. Balderick's which is a charity that focuses on curing childhood cancer. I posted my intentions on this board. My goal was $1K. Thanks in large part to this board I reached my goal in just a few days. I even upped my goal to $2K and reached that easily as well. My BIL was also shaving his head and was having difficulty hitting his $1K goal so I redirected some of the donations to me to him so he could hit his goal. In the end I raised about $2500.

Here is the link to the thread that has all the information.

I was floored at how many people gave. I figured a few people would give $10 or $20. But with all the high rollers on this board I quickly started getting $100 donations. Keys threw in more than $100 to get me to my goal of $2K and then someone after that dropped $200. I was floored.

The next closest thing was Varmint sending me a bunch of Monster Cables for nothing more than shipping. I asked for his address so I could send him something and he wouldn't give it.....Varmint=Good People

Bad CEO helped me out, YankeeFan and one other NJ Laywer, sorry cant remember your name but you both gave me great advice

:lmao:

Tipsey McStagger for feeding me free spoonbread (amazing stuff) at Dante's, his restaurant in New Orleans

It was meant to be confidential, so I won't violate that, but a relatively prominent member of the FFA (not staff) sent my wife and I a package of baby supplies when we adopted our son. We've been very grateful and have used what was sent to us every day - literally.

I'm giving like that. :thumbup:rover's like my ffa sugar daddy. I'm not sure if I should start with the aforementioned round of golf, the sonics tickets, or the loan referrals. Finless sent me a few badass Cuban cigars, matsuki sent me 3 bottles of wine, and there's a few FBG's who have let me finance their homes. Back in the day at the Huddle, there's a poster who goes by Muck. When I was shopping for an engagement ring, he hooked me up with a jewler in Texas who sent me a diamond, told me if I liked it to send a check, if I didn't to return it. Got a great deal, and a bigger stone than I would have otherwise been able to afford.

SofaKings sent me a box of WWII books to give to my son for Christmas last year. He wouldn't let me send him any money for them. Our son loved them and read them all within that month.

Also, another FBG here (who asked to remain nameless) offered up his brand new Wii for my son to buy when we couldn't get one.

I would also like to add just all the everyday advice that I get on here. My wife thinks I'm nuts with all the info I regurgitate to her that I got from this site. Everything from tax advice to tips to making me a better griller. Or Mad Cow hooking me up with some shades at cost. FranknBeans and JabroniKing putting such fins wimmens pics up. Or hearing about all the crazy #### going on in others lives that makes me feel just a bit saner...

Oh, and proninja bought me lunch when he was out in California and bueno sent us a very nice Christmas gift last year.

I was in a brawl and this guy knocked me down and Drugrunner jumped on his back and held him till I got up and threw him down a flight of stairs that was nice.

Also Running with Scissors, Fluffer, Pygmy Marmoset and Cocoa girl bought me drinks.

Higgins gave a commencement speech that brought a tear to my eye.

Scottybo helps with computer problems

Ans thanks to all those sending pron and helping with computer, and tech issues.

Oh - Mr. Clean met me at a bar at 10:30 pm on a weeknight to help me with my computer. Bueno has brought me multiple bottles of tequila from Mexico I can't get here. RedmondLonghorn treated me to a round of golf. I need to give back more. :hophead:
