Sleeper/Breakout LBs (1 Viewer)

Von Miller - Denver (rookie - good opportunity here)

Sean Weatherspoon - Atlanta (2nd year.. battled injuries last year but showed flashes when healthy)

David Hawthorne - should go back to his 2009 form with Lofa gone

a guy that the staff at FBG's has forgotten is Erin Henderson in MIN. They have yet to list him on any projections as Leber is still listed in MIN instead of where he signed, STL.

I guess this qualifies as a sleeper

Not a deep sleeper by any means, but in terms of having a breakout year, Rey Maualuga looks good this preseason with his move to MLB. He seems much more comfortable instinctive and seems to be able to be had for good value.

I'll go with Sean Lee, Dallas. Brooking has posted good numbers inside, but his age and injuries are catching up with him. I think you'll see Lee sooner rather than later.

He's a 2 down SLB. I thought I had him in there but don't expect much. Leber just needs a team update in the database but the projections are based on his role in St Louis.

Erin Henderson is at Will not Sam, but regardless he is a 2 down back!!!

good catch. I misspoke earlier.pretty limited upside for him I think.

Sleepers for me:

Break out: D. Butler SD. Should approach 90 solo with some big plays.

Break out: D. Ryans Hou. if he can stay healthy he could put up top 5 #s in new D scheme.

Deep Sleeper: P. Riley Was. I have a feeling either Fletcher or Mcintosh will get hurt and he becomes 3 down backer.

Deep Sleeper: G. Jones Nyg. I think he will take the job from Goff by mid season and post 6-10 tackles a game late in the year.

rotoworld claims Leber will be the starting weakside LB, and Jene lists him in his every down LB thread yet the projections have him as the 67th OLB with Diles way ahead of him. Some value there?

He is Technically the Will, but Greenway gets a lot of the benefits of the Will in the cover 2. He is battling Brinkley for the starting job, and while I think he will get it, his upside is very limited because of the 2 down role and Greenway and EJ taking a lot of the tackles. I think his numbers will fall short of what Leber put up in the same role in MN.

A 2 down player won't break out but may vastly outdo his ranking and may be decent bye week filler.

no a 2 down player cannot lead, but seeing that a very old looking EJ Henderson (i saw him unable to cover TE's from last year's preseason) I think Erin Henderson could see nickel in the future, esp. once the Vikes are sporting a 1-4 record in October.

I didn't say he could lead I said he could outperform his draft position. I don't see him breaking out anytime soon but could fill in in an emergency. How many un-drafted NFL LB'ers are in the top 40?

Draft history and the MIN situation in 2011 have little in relation from my perspective; because MIN has zero depth at LB; and Im only looking at the next 4 months not for dynasty purposes. Erin has a lot less wear and tear than EJ and the team's defense overall should be hanging around on the field a ton this year thanks to their own lack of talent and the likelihood that McNabb will be a flop on offense turning it over (due to lack of WRs and his old age). Those are my points in favor of calling Erin an upside sleeper (not linked to his level of talent compared to the rest of league or draft field when he came out.

James Harrison and London Fletcher quickly come to mind, but I'm sure there are others who have made an impact.Edit: add Gary Bracket, Stephen Cooper, Bart Scott, Cameron Wake.

Any thoughts on Daryl Sharpton? Cushing and Dmeco aren't looking themselves. Could he be a sneaky starting 3 down LB? As I recall he was billed as a tackling mating out of college.

Top preseason LB'ers-I do like both Carolina LB'ers, Jonathan Casillas in N.O. and possibly Dekoda Watson in Tampa if someone goes down.

problem with casillas nobody really knows yet if he's even going to start. Shanle played deep into 3QT this weekend

That's true but this is a sleeper list and he did win the job last year before getting hurt.
