Sleeper LB's (1 Viewer)

Keith Bulluck, I'm not sure if he's out of the top 60 but he's close. I got him late in an IDP only re draft league in JuneHe's going to be on the field a lot more than the previous two seasons and his competition for tackles at LB is not good.

Digging deep, Adibi, he may be behind Cushing in the pecking order for 3 down duties but relying on the oft injured Cushing to be on the field for the whole season would not be wise imho. Adibi should be the benefactor.

The end is near for London Fletcher, whether it's this year or not is just a guess, but if he goes down his replacement could be huge. The question being, who? Is it Blades? McIntosh?

I've been holding Blades. Adibi may not even get the WLB job. Barnett is pretty low in the ratings. I like him this year. Geno Hayes if he starts in Tampa. Deep sleeper-Veikune if he starts at ILB in Cleveland.

LOTS of good stuff on Veikune locally, I'll be watching him closely in camp. I really doubt he jumps either Barton or DQ on the depth chart this season though, his early ticket to PT will be playing outside. As for Adibi, who's going to beat him for the WILL job? June?

Could be Diles. Some see a WILL timeshare with Diles playing on rushing downs and Adibi on 3rd downs. However, Adibi has put on weight so I think he could be a 3 down backer.

Interesting, I knew of Adibi putting on weight to better his chances at maintaining running downs, but hadn't the slightest clue Diles was in the mix at WILL. I thought he was Cushing's camp competition at SAM.

From Texans.comThe linebackers on the roster are: Diles, Xavier Adibi, Kevin Bentley, Kevis Coley, Cato June, DeMeco Ryans, Chaun Thompson, Brian Cushing, Buster Davis and Toddrick Verdell. The starters have been Ryans in the middle and Cushing at strongside, while Adibi and Diles have been sharing reps on the weakside.

Kubiak still is evaluating which linebackers he wants to line up on third downs.

"Well, obviously Cushing has the ability to do that," Kubiak said. "He's worked with the first group in base and we start him with the second group at nickel just to kind of not throw too much at him too quick, but he's caught up. No doubt in my mind Zac, Xavier can do it; Kevin can do it. In that situation, on third downs, you want your two best athletes out there being able to cover and possibly do some rushing of the passer.

"DeMeco is our leader. He's our leader, and you want him on the field every snap. So we'll see how that works out, but we have more options from the standpoint of guys that are athletic enough to stay out there and cover tight ends and good backs in this league in those type of situations."

I continue to see Stephen Tulloch fall out of the top 60 LB's being taken in startup drafts.

Am I missing something with him?

He is listed as the starting MLB on the depth charts...granted it could be in a two-down roll but still.

This comes up frequently. You could try using search for more info but it boils down to him having a 2 down role and just making less plays than Bullocks or Thornton. He makes no big plays and he is under pressure from Fowler for his job. Check his stats from last season, he doesn't produce enough to keep him on a roster.

Anthony Spencer Dal. Greg Ellis had some good seasons playing were Spencer will play this year. Really nice in Big play leagues.

Larry Foote at the 60 in Detroit could do well also. Lenon has been a good producer and Larry has way more talent. He did well in Pittsburgh despite the #4 LB.

Tavares Gooden now taking Bart Scott spot. I could see some nice numbers coming from him also

From the Browns(Scout.com) nice if he could stay an ILB.

Rookie LB David Veikune has spent the vast majority of the practice sessions as an ILB and done well. Veikune has an endless motor, plays the game with aggression, and is explosive. Late in the Sunday session, Veikune was lined up over RT George Foster as a rusher off the edge, but a Kurt Quarterman penalty stopped the action before it started and the staff lost the opportunity to see this potential pass rusher in action off the corner against an experienced lineman.

And Beau Bell is not impressing at all apparently. Looks like Veikune could be the long term SILB alongside DQJackson.

Brandon Chillar in GB is outplaying everyone(Barnett on the sideline). Can he replace Kampman or Hawk? :)

He has a lot of good players in front of him but you asked for a sleeper.

I thought he was slated for OLB?I think there was a post in the early offseason about Mangini teaching the LBs the D from the inside out and that article seems to make mention of him as an edge rusher

Blurb stated that he's aligned mostly as an ILB above. Thought I remembered reading something similar from OTA notes. Inside-out comment is interesting, though. Interesting to see how it plays out in the games.
