Slow starts for "good" FF teams. (1 Viewer)

Shutout

Footballguy
Just some misery looking for company here. Got a "good" team that looks like Tarzan but is playing like Jane due to injuries, inconsistencies, owner lineup decisions, running into teams playing out of their heads or starting players that do nothing UNTIL I play them. , etc.

So I'm sitting at 2-2 and really don't see any moves to make or whatnot.

If anyone else is out there in a similar boat, I would just appreciate some thoughts on what to do/not do. Maybe some thoughts on how long you normally wait when you got guys banged up so early...

Someone remind me that these things even out over the course of the year.

Thanks.

2-2 ain't bad. That being said, the concept that your team is "good" needs to be revisited, or at least re-analyzed. Just because you scored high marks on the FBG's rate my team tool, or think you had a lot of value fall to you does not make your team "good" or even just underperforming. In FF, things change fast. You have to be ready to flip your team where it makes sense. If you lost on bad beats (as in you lost to the weekly high score) things will eventually even out. No need to worry. But if you are among the scoring dregs, regardless of the "names" on your roster, it's time to get active in trades and waiver wires.

Look where you are in points for and points against. 2-2 should put you in the middle of the league I would think so that's not really bad. If you are up there in points scored and you don't have any significant injuries to important players right now then you should be fine to make the playoffs and it's all luck from there. If you are in the bottom of scoring then make some deals for under performing studs you think will be able to turn it around.

4-0, and in 7th place in total points. Been starting Big Ben at QB and Lynch and Greene at RB. Now with AJ out a week or two am really hurting. Thank goodness for Beanie in the swing spot. But still my team sucks, but thankfully so do the other 3 teams in my division. After 10 years of bad luck, having three years of some good luck is kind of nice.

2-2 in a 12 team keeper league - Vick, Foster/Tate, Matthews, Megatron and Jennings

2-2 and 5th in scoring. Owner of Foster, Hightower, Tolbert, Manningham, Mike (TB) Williams, Hernandez among others. Hurting right now, but think team has tons of potential.

Thanks (and to the others as well). After checiking it out I am 5th in scoring (of 16) and I HAVE played two games against the highest scoring team (and was the 2nd highest scoring in one of those). I still think I have the players. i've just had guys in when another is out and such and haven't been able to put my whole team out there together yet (like I have already missed some manningham and Foster time..VJAX went out early in one game, etc).

If you ever get to the point where you think your roster is perfect and no tweaking is needed, think again. Whether you are 4-0 or 0-4, there are ways to improve your team. 2-2 isn't even close to panic mode. I have had seasons where I started 2-4 and made the playoffs. Now if you are 2-5 or 2-6...by all means, panic.

It's week 5, if you're still "starting slow", it's probably just not that good of a team.
The issue is not with talent, it is with injuries. I have yet to get my starting lineup in a game and the core group make it through the game. I have also played the highest scoring team twice as they have had unsung heroes/big time performances. Regardless the reason, it is a slow start nonetheless.

Big Ben, Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, Turner, Ingram, Nicks, Austin, AJ Green, J. Ford, D. Moore, Gronk, Hanson, Lions D in a 10 team keep 3 league = 1-3 record, 8th in points.

Only place I intend to try and improve is QB.

Started out the year with Romo or Cam Newton - Jamaal Charles - Frank Gore- Mendenhall - Dez Bryant - Brandon Lloyd - Vernon Davis - Eagles D - Akers kicker.... as my weekly starters... I am 0-4 in that league.

1-3 after the first month...5th in scoring but sitting in 8th place. Lost one game by 5 points, the next week I lose by 1 point. Ran into Beanie Wells this past Sunday.

My RBs and WRs have let me down due to injuries or underperforming offenses. Gotta think things will turn around for me soon, and I'm constantly looking for that breakout player on the WW.

So yeah, I feel your pain. I tend to start overthinking things in these situations...not panic but over analyzing. Keep a straight head and stay on course.

Sometimes you just hafta laugh. Lost last week to Welker's insane game in two leagues. This week...faced the Baltimore defense in the same leagues (since when does a %#^$&*@ defense score 30+ points to carry a bad fantasy team to vicotry! )

Pts for and Pts against is the only place you can look this early to have a true sense of where you're at.

0 - 4 in one league with Romo, Gore, Dwill, JStew, Santonio, Manningham, Addai, and Lynch. All of them underperforming. Also have Andre in that league, so that's nice :wall: . Beanie is the only bright spot in my lineup. Never thought I'd hear myself say that.
