He follows one account... The NSA.

This should be interesting

The fact he went running to Putin for protection is all I need to know about his supposed motives. If he were such a patriot that cared about the rights of the people against big brother, he wouldn't have made the former KGB man and current dictator his new best friend. Just another egomaniac looking for attention.

I guess that's one take.

I suppose one COULD go with the mindset that our Government is beyond reproach, and would never engage in nefarious acts that could be deemed as malicious toward it's citizens.

And I'm sure some adults still believe in Santa, too.

.@neiltyson Thanks for the welcome. And now we've got water on Mars! Do you think they check passports at the border? Asking for a friend.

Will never understand the "traitor" people. Your government is looking at everything you do without a warrant and when asked about it under oath by your elected representatives, the government lied about it. Those who tried to blow the whistle through the "normal" channels had their lives effectively destroyed. I just don't understand how you can look at what he did within the context of what was happening and think of the man as anything other than a patriot.

Ed @Snowden, many call you Hero, others Traitor. Whatever else you are, you’re a Geek to me. What do you say to those labels?

@neiltyson Hero, traitor -- I'm just a citizen with a voice.

Maybe those "traitor" people are the ones who didn't violate the oath they took when granted security clearances.

Pre-publication review is a lifetime commitment. If you cant live with it, don't take the job.

and before you ask, yes, I did order the code red! :pickle:

Is it not reasonable to think you could come into some knowledge after security clearance that would change your mind on this matter?

Whether or not you think what Snowden had was worth doing that may be a different story. But, blind allegiance over all else is not a great thing IMO.

Maybe those "patriot" people think there's a moral obligation to do something to protect the constitutional rights of human beings, regardless of the legality behind it.

Swearing to an Oath of Office is a commitment that requires you to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. If you can't uphold it, don't take the job (*cough* Michael Hayden, Keith Alexander *cough*).

By the way, since we all love technicalities, Snowden never violated an oath as he never took one related to the handling of classified material. Since he was a contractor, he signed Standard Form 312 as a condition of his employment which, legally, means he merely agreed that he was aware of laws against sharing or keeping classified information and that he would be subject to criminal punishment if he did so. He swore no oath to not take or share classified information. He did, however, swear the standard Oath of Office to defend the Constitution as part of his previous direct employment with the CIA.

Maybe Snowden could be Hillary's VP. Neither care about the security of classified info and both have huge egos so it seems a perfect fit.

One was intentionally released, the other was a management of data issue. I see no connection other than your apparent scorn.

I'm actually a little disappointed that there are still some topics in FFA threads that haven't had Hillary's emails somehow connected to them. Seems like slacking to me.
