Stores have been ransacked of all essentials.  All the stores have been ransacked of rock salt, kitty litter and any other type of deicer.

Going to be miserable for a few days.   Kids have been out of school so long already.  My pool froze after we lost power for 3 hours.  Cracked the filter.  That is going to be about 1500 to replace.   Upside I get to spend more time with the family.   Dripping water from the faucets and have opened up the cabinets under them.   Mother in law has frozen pipes already so I guess she will be coming over soon as well.  Last big snow storm we had knocked out our Directv so we just sat around so much fun.

Oh, anyone have a good recipe for homemade deicer that actually works.

Most commercial deicer is calcium chloride.  It's also used in water treatment. So a local pool store or water conditioning company might have some.
