So hungover this morning I accidently wore two different shoes (2 Viewers)

Arizona lightning
Cut out like a thundershot
His voice rang clear across the USA
Where other men have tried and failed
Ended up their days in jail
This man always knew the horse to play

Pick up your bed, beggar man
Bird in the bush and none in the hand
What's your sad excuse to live so long?
Men have hanged for better things
Than half the things you did today
You go find some other place to stay

Arizona thundershower
Count the days and kill the hour
Six foot deep don't seem so awful low, you know
When the eagle hits the ground
you can hear the sparks  for miles around
Who could blame a man to curse or pray

Strike a light or curse the shade
Some of us have got it made
While some men's children got to stall for time
What you get for what you got
Still don't leave an awful lot
Could be you've got nothing left to give away

California lightning chain
Kicked out in the driving rain
You broke every law of God and man
An honest man would stand and die
If he had one good reason why
Or even half a leg on which to stand

You don't look like one of me
And I don't think I'm one of you
But on the other hand you got your gun
I don't need to have to ask
What's that face behind your mask?
It ain't much different than any other one I've seen

Alabama backslap
One step forward and two steps back
That won't get you back to Buffalo, you know
Just one thing left to say
Every dog will have his day
Take your own but keep your hands off mine

Had a tough time placing this one. DW picks all the best music!

I'm going to try hard to not drink tomorrow

Yay for you.

Did you just recently take on this drinking problem? I don't recall this being an issue with you until you saw it get a lot of traction in here.
Yeah, great. But I believe he said that the day before. And the day before that. I have no doubts that tonight we'll be seeing posts that he had 8 beers and wanted more so he drove the block to pick up more. And then wanted something to eat so he ordered more dominoes.

And the over/under on him being unemployed again because his co-workers are just impossible? I give it about 2 weeks.

I've wanted to do it my entire life. Since I was a kid. I had a fantasy about becoming  wealthy and creating public works projects to provide jobs and just creating parks where the homeless could go just to feel different.

A few years ago I was homeless and even then, and times since, I felt like I was better than them. But I'm not.

in the last few years I realized how lucky I am just to be able to read and write, born handsome and athletic, with every advantage in life. I never thought about the other side. I often looked down on them even as I shared the same roof and I feel guilty about it.

I am doing nothing with my talents. One day I mightbut for now why can't I at least help others who don't have those gifts?

Ive never felt so big but also so small at the same time. I made a decision tonight to volunteer at a shelter. Serve food to the hungry and above all else talk to them like human beings. I think the best thing to do is just treat everyone like a human, good or bad, it means a lot.

ive cried about 4 times tonight thinking about what a pompous jerk I've been my whole life when I could have done so much more.
How's the volunteering going btw?

Remember when we had that thread about Clyde the janitor and finding the poop underwear in the ceiling tiles?

This thread is the exact opposite while at the same time being quite similar.

I like to think that Clyde walked the earth for a time until he spontaneously, upon attainment of enlightenment, had his physical being turn to mist, rise, and merge with the northern lights.

:lmao:

I'm not sure if CCC2 is trying to insinuate that he never existed or whether he's just calling me an attention whore.  The latter, I can get behind.  The former is just untrue.

Why not? You're saying that you drink because you're bored. Maybe helping others will help you feel better about yourself and give you a little purpose.

What changed from when you made the decision to do it?
Haven't thought about it since then because every day I'm either working or fighting a hangover.

Smoked a bowl and took a nice drive through the countryside as dusk. Then decided to stop over at sprouts for groceries and treat myself to a fancy meal. Stopped by the 7-11 for a coffee and water and the guy said

"No beer"?

"No beer today man".

"But you always buy beer"

Of course you'll make it...you're just getting high instead.  Not sure that is a success if you are still using a mind altering substance.  Can you make it through a day completely sober?   And you shouldn't be driving high either.

He's just substituting one substance abuse for another and then claiming a victory

Pot can rob one, slowly, imperceptibly at first, of motivation.

If everything in your life is under control and you want to stone, that's fine.  If personal relationships are in taters, your job is tenuous, and money is beyond tight and emotionally you are having difficulties it is time to put it aside for the next year, not forever, but for a year.  After that, if going back makes sense for you that's fine  Same for drink.  The thing is you ask the question whether intoxication is right for you from a place of health, stability, and sobriety, not from a place of instability, ill emotional health, and intoxication.

Good luck.

Hopefully you end up in jail before you kill someone's kid.

I want to take back my  .

Do you think people in this thread are upset with you for drinking and driving because we are only concerned for your safety? Can you think about other people in this world at all?

You remind me a lot of my brother.  The good and the bad.

He is intelligent, although not book-smart.  He knows the "right thing" but would always make the wrong decision.  Drank heavily all the time.  Couldn't hold a job.  Then he met a girl that would not stand for it.  He stopped drinking (still gets high though last I heard) and is doing better now than he has in 10+ years.  They are still together and he has a job he loves.  He still does things that will leave you scratching your head, but giving up the sauce was a turning point for him in his happiness.  And the happiness of those around him.

It was hard for him, but he had support to quit.  From what little I know of you, it sounds to me like that's exactly what you need.  Very few people can kick it without help.  Do you have anyone that will have your back while you try to get better?
