So I Guess We Are Back To Assassination Fantasies In The Artistic Community (1 Viewer)

How does a project with this many people involved and the large amount of money it takes even get this far?   Are people so consumed with hate that they can't see how bad of an idea this is?

Because it is art. They always push the limits.

One of the last things they want is for people to be "neutral" in their response and not react in any-way-what-so-ever. They would rather have you hate or love it.

And DELTA and BofA are responding perfectly. (this is where conservatives would cry about stifling 'freedom of speech' if the shoe was on the other foot, but that's not what is happening.)

Yep

this should be a non-story and there's no freedom of speech issue here.  But the theater gets some publicity which was their goal.

And at what point? At the point of public funds being used to envision the assassination of the President? Can you imagine the response from the left had that happened to President Obama? That's just child's talk.

Yep. They had all their assassination fantasies in the aughts, and then as soon as President Obama got elected, everything with a gun was worrisome.  I remember. And I'm not a Trump supporter, either. Thanks, Tom.  

 
Really, the Kings Of Smack should be asking us why the right has no artistic community, but I'm a little advanced on that.

That people really should NOT push such things. Even artists. Even worse of our POTUS. Its comes down to decency and how we treat our fellow citizens.

And when people push such hateful things, others should do what they can (not with violence, but social rebukes) to minimize them.

I think it's the level of invective about certain positions that worries me. I'm not sure holding certain positions are worth beheading fantasies without proper debate. I agree with Trump, much like I would agree with Clinton, on certain things. Certainly wouldn't like to be beheaded for a fundamental disagreement with Trump on NATO.

In other words, you could have supported certain aspects of Trump's platform and Clinton's platform and not expected to be beheaded for it.

Those three are tragic, no doubt. Robert would have been President in '68. I can't even type those names without eyes welling up. Perhaps that's why I started the thread.

I think that since the end of Clintons term we now have the internet fueling anything anyone says at anytime and anywhere. So "starting" with Bush I find to be misleading.

Why doesn't rockaction just call people people jerks and move on, just like the rest of us did when someone put an effigy of Obama hanging from a tree in University of Kentucky, or dozens (maybe more?) places across the country.  Maybe Trump shouldn't invite a person to the WH who threatened to kill Obama.  Hatred begets hatred, you know.  This is such pearl clutching to make a thread about this.

We all read the article, because it was posted in the main Trump thread already.  But you wanted to make a new thread about it. :shrug:  This is also not unique.

No, splitting hairs makes all the difference. It's about Obama getting together with Republicans and getting stabbed in the back. Kathy Griffin and and the other play are about getting stabbed.  

Take the nuance and move on.  

 
Oh, I didn't see rockheadedaction had started the thread until now. He is going to fight, parse and nitpick until the bitter end. He will never accept the truth or post an apology, he isn't capable.
