As a conservative that dislikes Obama's work pretty strongly, I would be very upset if he was assassinated. I think Obama is a good guy and great family man. I highly respect how he carries himself and how he outwardly loves his wife and kids. That is the part of America that needs to be grown. I would feel terrible for his family.
A foreign country is not going to take Obama out. It would be a terrorist group and I would be 100% behind going after that group with everything we have.
If an American white guy or group took him out, it would tear this country apart. That would be a nightmare.
I hope most Americans think this way no matter what their political leanings. The office of the POTUS should still be respected no matter who is in office.
I would mourn the passing of this President as much as I would mourn the passing of Stalin or Hitler. Don't get me wrong, I'm not comparing him to those two, but for the last 100 years the Dumbocrats have been pushing a narrative on this country and it is bringing down our middle class and increasing the rolls of low info voters who seem to get most of their facts/lies from MSM. When he was first elected, he promised to improve our economy and give us transparency....the only real thing he achieved was to ram healthcare down our throats in the middle of the night without even reading the 2000 page bill. This so called transparency that was promised to us has done nothing but to take over our MSM and push a socialist and communist agenda, that history has proven will take us down a path of destruction. This whole time our economy is still in shambles, the middle class keeps shrinking and the dumbocratic rolls on the left keep increasing. I will never mourn the loss of a sellout and liar that is destroying the country I love. Despite what you commie loving lefties think...you can't make me mourn him.
Dumbocrats and RHINOS are sellouts and the less of them on this planet means less death and I will never mourn that, In fact, the less politicians to exist in DC....the better. Communism and it's little sister Socialism have been responsible for or lead to more death and destruction than anything capitalism has ever done. The MSM and left LOVE to twist the argument to make it seem that the far right wants to destroy and hate.....MSM is littered with these lies of how conservitives are racists, yet history has shown the true face of hate and death comes from the left, socialism and controlling govts. Hundreds of millions have lost their lives to controlling govts under communism. Hitler himself pushed his socialist agenda on the German people and look where that lead. Power grabbing politicians are the ones who corrupted our businesses and industries. They are the ones starting these wars and making grabs for land.....all in the name of power and control. How many wars were started in Europe by Capitalists?
Nobody ever said there wasn't a lunatic right out there. But you seem to want to believe that almost all those of a conservative bent belong to it. Fox News is not a part of the lunatic right. It's mainstream conservatism.

Not really, no. World Net Daily, Free Republic.Com, Glenn Beck (who was fired by Fox News because he was so crazy), that lunatic conspiracy guy (can't remember his name)- those are the lunatic right.

It depends on where someone stands. If they're on the extreme left, I could see how they would think Fox News is lunatic right. It's that much further from where they are.
I was listening to the radio this morning when an ad for the new season of 24 came on, and the clip said something to the effect that "If the president is assassinated on foreign soil, it would start another world war..."
That got me thinking that I could not see that scenario in today's world - where a war would break out if the US president was assassinated - given that the most likely culprit would be a terrorist group, rather than a state sanctioned hit, and even if it was a hit authorized by someone like Russia - just can't see anyone jumping on the Russia band wagon, which would limit the scale of any fall out.
But, beyond that, I wonder what the reaction would be in the USA if Obama were to be assassinated anywhere. I doubt we would see a reaction like when JFK was assassinated, where the whole country went into mourning - Obama just does not seem to be universally "loved" to generate that type of response. Not that anyone would be cheering - just a more subdued response would be my guess.
I do think the reaction in the black community, as a whole, would be similar to the reaction to Kennedy's assassination, and I wonder if that would have an impact on race relations going forward in America.
Not advocating any violence here, just wondering what you think the reaction and/or impact would be if Obama were to be assassinated. Would it galvanize the country, or create a bigger chasm?
Race relations got much better after MLK was killed.
The vote to make MLK Day a national holiday missed by a few votes just a decade after his death. I doubt anyone in 1968 while he was alive could have even imagined that we'd have a national holiday to celebrate a black man, let alone it nearly passing 10 years later.
This is one right-winger that would be extremely distraught to see any president assassinated, even one I disagree with as much as Obama. I sincerely hope that would be the feeling of most of those on my side of the political and social aisle, but I'm not entirely certain. I have literally heard little old ladies at my church discussing whether or not Obama might be the anti-christ. My own father-in-law considers him to be "a lot like" Mugabe in Zimbabwe.
I would still hope that losing a president would pull virtually all parties together, but I can't say I'm as sure of it as I'd like to be.
If Obama was assassinated anywhere and it is tied to a foreign power it would be completely on. There is no way we let a state actor get away with that. If it is a terrorist thing it would reinvest the War on Terror with momentum and whatever groups would get hunted down. As for the nation JFk wasn't universally loved, there were many who hated him. But the nation will mourn a president who is killed in office. And it would get full pomp and circumstance.
Then they'd dig their metaphorical grave. It would move them completely to the fringe. Americans won't stand for it. And that goes for the vast overwhelming majority of conservatives.
No mourning here. Do not know the guy personally (like some of you seem to), and what I do know of him, makes him a d'bag IMO. Him being the POTUS makes not a bit of difference.

The old guy that lived next door to me as a kid once told me that when he told his boss that Kennedy had been shot, his boss said "I hope they got his b**ch wife too".
