So the Chefs are rolling with Croyle? (1 Viewer)

Now I know that the team had a LOT of holes to fill, but are they really comfortable rolling with this kid? Did he show enough as a starter last year? I don't know enough of the situation, so if someone can enlighten me that would righteous.

Is he really an NFL caliber QB?

Nobody knows if he is or not. IMHO, if he can't cut it this year, they will start over next year with a rookie.

No.

I think their logic is to build up the surrounding positions before they get their QB, maybe they think with appropriate talent around him Croyle can be ok. Last year's squad(especially after LJ went down) would have been tough for any QB that isn't Brady or Manning.

in' Rollin' Rollin'

Keep movin', movin', movin',

Though they're disapprovin',

Keep them doggies movin' Rawhide!

Don't try to understand 'em,

Just rope and throw and grab 'em,

Soon we'll be living high and wide.

Boy my heart's calculatin'

My true love will be waitin', be waiting at the end of my ride.

Move 'em on, head 'em up,

Head 'em up, move 'em out,

Move 'em on, head 'em out Rawhide!

Set 'em out, ride 'em in

Ride 'em in, let 'em out,

Cut 'em out, ride 'em in Rawhide.

Rollin', rollin', rollin'

Rollin', rollin', rollin'

Rollin', rollin', rollin'

Rollin', rollin', rollin'

Rawhide!

Rollin', rollin', rollin'

Though the streams are swollen

Keep them dogies rollin'

Rawhide!

Rain and wind and weather

Hell-bent for leather

Wishin' my gal was by my side.

All the things I'm missin',

Good vittles, love, and kissin',

Are waiting at the end of my ride

CHORUS

Move 'em on, head 'em up

Head 'em up, move 'em on

Move 'em on, head 'em up

Rawhide

Count 'em out, ride 'em in,

Ride 'em in, count 'em out,

Count 'em out, ride 'em in

Rawhide!

Keep movin', movin', movin'

Though they're disapprovin'

Keep them dogies movin'

Rawhide!

Don't try to understand 'em

Just rope, throw, and brand 'em

Soon we'll be living high and wide.

My hearts calculatin'

My true love will be waitin',

Be waitin' at the end of my ride.

Rawhide!

Rawhide!

It's a shame that they are so incomplete at the QB position because with the draft that they had this year, they could significantly improve in 2008.

What? :goodposting:
In other words; yes, they are going to go with Croyle.

Great googly boogly.

Don't change the thread title, lest my post make no sense. TIA.

They (Herm and Peterson) have said that they don't want to judge Croyle's ability to be their guy until he actually has a chance to succeed with a line taht will protect him and a solid group around him. If he doesn't show some improvement this year I would think they'll start to look past him, but they may give him the '09 season as well before they give up on him.

I hear he makes a MEAN crab bisque, which is why the Chefs chose him in the first place.
give me some chips and beer and bisque and I'll suffer through a chiefs game even

Why does everyone think the Chiefs had this great draft? I mean it was good, but not that good. They lost the best player on their team this offseason(and did nothing to replace him.) Brandon Albert isn't gonna come in and be Willie Roaf. They have nothing to lose by going with Croyle.

I see no problem with giving Croyle another season. A few years ago the Chargers started to panic that Brees was not developing the way they were hoping and spent a high draft choice on Philip Rivers. In retrospect, if they had been patient one more year then they could have used that #1 (or #4 + picks) on another position and still had Brees.

In regards to the draft, I think a couple of comments were pretty telling in the day or two leading up to the event. A.J. Smith of the Chargers suggested that they would probably try to move out of the first because there was no one in this year's draft that could start for his team. Whereas Peterson of the Chiefs said it was imperative that he come out of this year's draft with 6 or 7 starters. It goes to show how far apart these two franchises are.

I think Croyle will get his shot this year, but I would not be surprised to see KC bring in someone that get released closer to the start of the season....I wish they would have taken a shot at Volek when he was available....but right now I would love to see them bring in a Culpepper or something.....

Croyle is kind of a gunslinger and I actually kind of like it....not crazy about the way it looks now but he might work out.......

You can say that again.

Croyle definitely will be this year's starter, but IMO will continue to struggle. Whether Herm stays with him beyond 2008 is debatable since he has generally been slow to make changes. IMO Croyle will never be a fantasy starting-caliber QB and is unlikely to be an NFL starter beyond 2009.

Maybe they have someone else on the roster they like

QB Tyler Thigpen, Kansas City Chiefs

HT: 6-2, WT: 220, Born: 4-14-1984, College: Coastal Carolina, Drafted: Round 7

He's no Tavarius Jackson.
No joke. I love how everyone is falling all over the Vikings & Chiefs offseason, yet completely turns a blind eye to the fact they will be fielding the league's two worst starting quarterbacks. And that is not an exaggeration.

If Croyle fails this year I can see the Chiefs going after Chase Daniel in next year's draft.
I love Mizzou, but Chase is not going to be a decent pro QB either.
If Croyle fails this season, KC will likely be no better than 5-11. so I would think the next QB would be the best in the 2009 draft, and by many accounts, that would be U. of Georgia QB Matthew Stafford. That would fall in line with most people's thoughts that this is a two-season rebuild and then be ready to content for a long time starting in ''10.

Nobody knows for certain if Croyle will be a capable NFL QB or not. We'll have a much better idea after this season is over.

Correct. No QB could have been too productive behind that line. Croyle should be happy Chiefs brass felt the same way.

Matt Stafford was also standout baseball pitcher in high school at Highland Park in Dallas. Decent size at 6-3 and 230 for a QB or major league pitcher with an outstanding arm that can throw a football 80 yards or a fastball in the low 90's. He looks like the real deal.

at the same time, he keeps a starting gig, but he's the sacrificial lamb as the rest of the team moves towards the future. I like the plan, but sort of feel bad for Brodie.

i don't really know enough about the guys they drafted to substantiate how good it was, but i'm sure there's an element of assuming quantity equals quality. twelve selections is a crap load of picks.
