So when does TO become a bargain in your draft? (1 Viewer)

I'm just curious to see what the concensus is on when people feel TO should be selected. It seems like the soap opera never ends with the guy which muddies the picture of when he should actually be drafted. I'm sure that there are those that like him for this season and those that don't. His ADP is currently listed at 15 on FBG's most recent ranking which would project to early 2nd round in most leagues. So if you want to use this as a baseline, would you take him with say, the 3rd pick in the 2nd? Would you take him at all in the 2nd? Is he such an enigma that you'd steer clear of him altogether?

How far does he have to fall before you absolutely can't pass on him?

If I was drafting 1st 2nd or 3rd and got one of the big three RB's... and at my pick at 2.12 got one of the better WR's (Smith-Holt-Johnson-Chambers-Moss-Harrison-Boldin-Fitz).... I would take a chance on him at 3.1..... but only if Gates wasn't there. While Owens can be the best WR in the game.... he hasn't exactly shined this camp.

EDITED TO ADD BOLDIN FITZ I KNEW I FORGOT SOMEONE......

I think the #25-#27 range represents decent value, and anything after #30 is a great value. I would rank him just above the Burress/Ward/Wayne range and just below the Harrison/Moss/Boldin tier

I was thinking of this earlier. If he fell to me in the 3rd then I start the debate, not until then.

Also a question, is it possible that this whole Hamstring problem is a big ruse to the league and he and Parcells are on the same page but using this against him playing in the preseason? I know it is farfetched but it has to be considered.

3rd round makes sense Tough to select him as your #1 WR with the ?'s and other like Boldin, Chambers, etc available

I had this same thought the other day. I agree that it is definitely far-fetched, but I thought that it might be pretty brilliant by Parcells if this was just a big joke on the media and Tuna doesn't want to TO playing during the preseason. Afterall, if there's anything that TO and Parcells have in common it's a love of controlling the media. And it could be his way of giving TO a little slack and he and TO stay on the same page. He'll let TO get his attention fix by acting a little in front of the cameras but only if it's a script that Tuna wrote. :tinfoilhat:

I have had two of three drafts already. I essentially got TO as my 2nd WR in both after getting Holt in one and CJ in the other. Both were third rd. picks. I fully expect him to fall to me again in the second rd. (overal pick 16) in a league where WR's get 10 pt.'s for a TD and 1 PPR.

I'm in a 10-team league, so the risk seems worth the reward for me to take TO in the mid-2nd (if Holt, CJ, Smith, and Fitz are gone).

I feel confident that I can load up later on solid WRs I'm targeting (Driver, Mason, Branch, Housh, Kennison, etc) that I'm willing to take a shot at the guy who could be the #1 WR.

in a 12 team PPR lg, I drafted TO in the 3rd rnd (4th pick). I passed on the drama in rnd 2 for Boldin, but figured TO was worth the 3rd rnd pick.

No way whatsoever this is the case. He's on a new team, with a new QB, and learning a new offense......there's no way they keep him out of practice or games intentionally.

I'd expect TO's numbers to around 80/1100/9, assuming he's healthy enough to play. He has a marginally greater upside, but not a lot higher. You have to remember that Dallas will run the ball 500+ times and Bledsoe will also have Witten and Glenn to throw to.

So whereever that level of production puts him, that's where I'd take him.

And if you're wondering, I'm staying out of FF this year so I don't have any real bias on him.

first draft 14 teamer - a week ago mind you - took him 22nd overall at 2.7;

draft 2 nights ago 12 teamer 3.3 ( after LJ and Holt)

3rd round here.... for me the chances that he won't be available in the post season is much too great
That can go for ANY player you draft.
With any player, there is a small chance (5%?) of him getting injured, at some point.Add to that 5%, the fact that Owens has a groinn injury that is now bordering on chronic, and a hamstring that doesn't seem to be healing (he IS 32 years old), and I'd say that his chances of not finishing due to injury is at least twice that of a normal healthy player.

Now add the fact that his past behavior indicates that there is a chance, albiet a small one, that some kind of off-field issue will cause friction between him and Parcells and/or Bledsoe, and you're incuring another risk that isn't there with other players.

Peformance-wise, he's certainly deserving of a top-three position in the receiver ranks, but factor in the risks, and there are at least 7 or 8 other WRs that I would draft first.

If you can get him end of second or later you should be charged for robbery.
You think so? I'm at a point with TO that if a Holt/Harrison, etc. were there at end of 2nd that I'd go that route. End of 2nd...I'm not so sure he's great value....but when you get into the mid 3rd....then I'm talking a steal (I hope). Not sure what to make of all the issues there, whether they are real, perceived, made up, etc.

Seems like 100% speculation on your part unless your TO's doctor. Unless you know for a fact that he is hurt more than most players then it still stands as fact that the chances that he won't be available in the post season are the same with ANY player you draft. Period.

Seems like most leagues they are gone by end of second round.

I just can't believe how many people are scared to take him earlier. Talk about guppy move.
How is it a guppy move? He's in a totally new offense that he hasn't been around to learn. His hamstring is bother him. Even though he keeps in great shape, he's no spring chicken anymore. The other better WR's (such as CJ, Smith, Fitz, Boldin) are much better picks IMO.I wouldn't even think about TO until pick #25 (12 team league), and even then, I still wouldn't take him right there.

:goodposting: Seriously no way is Parcells down with TO not practicing. I doubt he would even keep him out of preseason games as a ruse. But no practice? Never.
