So who else has their championship game in week 17? (1 Viewer)

Now that the weak sisters are done with their seasons, those of us not scared to play week 17 are in the real championship games. The rest of you can, uh, sit around bored for an extra weekend.

My team:

QBs

Tom Brady

Marc Bulger

Jeff Garcia

RBs

Rudi Johnson

Kevin Jones

Laurence Maroney

Kenny Watson

Selvin Young

WRs

Dwayne Bowe

Torry Holt

Andre Johnson

James Jones

TEs

Donald Lee

K

Matt Stover

D

Patriots

Seahawks

Smart leauges play week 16 when you still have guys playing. It is more of a true reflection of the team you've had all year.

We do.

Team is in the sig. Going to be tricky. No Parker, No Addai, No Jennings probably after the loss today, Garrard probably sits at least 1/2, Holmes probably sits some... going up against Derek Anderson, Moss, T.O., Lynch, J.Lew

Just about every credible fantasy football league plays their championship game in Week 16. HTH.

I like nothing more than playing 16 great weeks of FF only to see the team I drafted sit and a bunch of scrubs, third stringers and former bag boys score all the points.

What an assinine thread.

You call leagues that finish in week 16, as most do, "weak sisters" and then just post your roster?

Crappy "call out" thread or a crappy :fishing: .

Either way, it's just plain crappy.

True reflection of your team is having no playoff and playing all 17 weeks. And the best after 17 weeks is the champ.

Haven't played in a playoff type fantasy league for years. :fishing:

If you guys are so afraid to play in week 17 because "some studs might sit", then I'm surprised you play in week 16. After all, the snow, the wind, the bad weather can unfairly affect games too. In week 15 some teams were hurt not because of anything they did but because bad weather stopped the Patriots. Why not hold your championship game the last weekend in November? It would be safer.

Why not stop posting when any random thought enters your head?

I'm posting it because next weekend is championship weekend for real leagues, and I've already crushed my opponent to make it.

There is bad weather many weeks the the middle of the season. Your arguement holds little weight.

You're right, those weak leagues probably should crown a champion the last week in September since the weather only gets worse in October. Its not fair, after all.

... and that's a reason to start a thread? To tell that to a bunch of people who don't give a crap about your team?If you start a thread discussing pros and cons of different playoff and league formats that just great. Food for fruitful discussion. But to start a thread in the shark pool just to blather about how great you are and how others leagues suck? Useless.

Anybody else have a two-week championship game that encompasses weeks 16 & 17?

Week 17 is nuts. You have to make some serious waiver moves and gut calls. Very interesting. The smarter owner will almost always win in week 17, no matter who was on whose roster all year.

Yep. I'm gonna have to do my homework this week.I have Manning, Favre, Romo (don't ask) Freddy Taylor, ADP and Braylon. There's a good chance that NONE of them will need to play a lick. :lmao:

Yeah you gotta look completely at situations and matchups. I'd take a guy like Shaun Hill or Brodie Croyle who's playing for a job next year over any of your 3 QBs' backups. What's kind of fun is when you can drop a guy like any/all of those 3 and it doesn't even matter. Obviously this would only apply to your basic redrafts. Week 17 is almost a season to itself.

I'll be playing in our league championship game next week. Even if I win my head-to-head, it won't mean that much since total points leagues, like ours, reduce the luck factor dramatically, and I have no chance of winning the total points crown.

To each their own, but I think a league where a champion is based on H2H is crazy regardless of which NFL week the league ends the season. Total points leagues, with a H2H season for the interest factor, is the best way to go.

Goo luck all who play for a crown next week. :(

:( If you're going to play a week 17 championship so you don't "waste" any football and you don't mind letting situations and matchups increase drastically in importance, why not play into the playoffs? I think I've read here that people do this. I'd love to hear how that works.

Our league is two conferences of twelve teams, so the winners of both conferences meet in the Super Bowl in week 17.

I am not a fan of the week 17 Super Bowl, but I am definitely happy to be in the game next week.

Week 17 really is ugly... just thought about it and this MAY be my starting lineup

McNabb

2 of the following:

Clinton Portis

Kolby Smith

Kenton Keith

2 of the following:

Chad Johnson

Chris Henry

Sidney Rice

I don't see Greg Jennings or Santonio Holmes getting much playing time. Addai and Parker injured. Wondering the extent of Addai's injury. If it's likely to lead well into the playoffs then Keith will most likely be benched week 17 which makes my decision much easier.

Rolling against a team full of guys that have nothing to lose (Derek Anderson, Jamal Lewis, Marshawn Lynch, Dwayne Bowe due to a T.O. injury). The only guy who is in the playoffs for this team is Randy Moss (who we all know will play because it's NE).

You guys facing this type of situation? Championship team full of players going to the playoffs or facing injuries this past week against a team full of guys that have nothing to lose?

Playing the Championship in week 17 = bad idea. Nothing like having your best players benched and lose to a team because his players weren't benched. That is NOT a reflection of how good or bad a team truly is.

I agree. But that's how the league has always been. And it's the only good fantasy league in the area. As well as the only keeper league. Not really big on the idea of joining leagues online in which I do not know the people. I want to get my money

FYI, I've only played in online dynasty leagues and I've always gotten paid. I also commish 3 of the 6 leagues I'm in and everyone gets paid. If you join a good dynasty league comprised of FBGs you probably won't have the problem of not getting paid. When joining a new league ask for references from those who know the integrity of the commish.

I wouldn't play in a league that had the championship game in week 17.....it's just stupid.

The most important game of the fantasy football season and half your roster may or may not play. It puts the whole thing up to pure luck in a lot of cases.

This is one of the dumbest threads I've seen on this board.

The OP

Have fun playing a guessing game all week with your starters

Indeed. In fact, I can't think of a time when I've been angrier.

I would have no problem with it, but not in a big money league. Might be kind of fun scrambling to fill your roster with Matt Cassell.

Sit around bored next week? No, I'll be watching NFL football, just like this week. Do you not like football if you aren't in a fantasy league? Because if a week of NFL football with no fantasy football bores you, than just go play fantasy golf or some other crap. Same thing, apparently the actual sport doesn't matter to you at all.

I've played in leagues with week 17 superbowls. I hate them, so I don't play in them.

Our regular season goes all seventeen weeks. Playoffs are played on the side in weeks 14-16. The regular season champ receives the greater payout. I am currently tied going into next week with some difficult decisions awaiting. I do have the advantage with the tiebreaker.

Going 17 weeks is great. The twelve of us are there to have fun, not to try and prove how smart we are about football.

"no credible fantasy league goes to 17". :X Whoever posted this, good luck getting into Canton.
