So who's rolling with Maroney? (1 Viewer)

Rounders

I have been debating back and forth about starting Maroney this week. I have decided to keep him on the bench until I see a strong performance. I'm just not sure what the Pats are going to do going forward.

Curious to know who's rolling with Maroney this week and who you sitting in his place?

How did Maroney do last week with Brady out against one of the worst run defense in the league? How many carries did he get?

I'm rolling with Maroney, but I'm also considering this week to be an indicator of things to come for him. As a result, its possible this could be his last week in my lineup for a while.

I just think we have to find out what his role looks like after an entire week of preparing the offense for life after Brady before we can write him off. If he struggles and has limited touches again this week though, all bets are off.

Very good point DY, but I have to wonder if that was due more to the gameplan that BB implemented for the game than anything else? (wishful thinking?) I'm curious to see how a week of gameplanning w/o Brady will effect Maroney. Wait and see for me!

I have both Maroney and Morris. I am debating which one to start this week.

I am planning on starting 1 of them though.

My opponent is starting Maroney, I'm starting Morris against him. I may be leaving my fantasy game in Belichek's hands.

Tough call.

Start 3

Gore

Forte

Grant / Lumpkin

Maroney.

If Grant can't go, I'll roll with Maroney.

These are the stats for all running backs after Brady went down:
Code:
Player	Att	Yards	TD	Rec	Yds	TDs	PenaltySammy Morris	10	53	1	5	34	0	2Laurence Maroney	7	29	0	0	0	0	0LaMont Jordan	2	6	0	0	0	0	0Heath Evans	1	0	0	0	0	0	0
The penalty column is a play that involved the running back but was negated by a penalty...HTH

I can't wait for Maroney to NOT be a Patriot.
:goodposting: a lot of teams would ride him into the ground. Once it really sets in for his owners that he's not going to be more than an RBBC back in NE, rebuilding dynasty teams should try to buy low... if you're willing to wait til 2011. Maroney is a very talented back, and he can be a ball control workhorse, just look at the playoffs last year, but NE is going to use their 5 headed RB and continue to frustrate his owners. Big ups to Yudkin for being way ahead of this.

I'm going with Maroney, in my 14 team, 3 keeper league. I think Maroney is a very talented back and I think he can control the ground game. Some think he's soft, but I think he can be a bruiser like Barber. Maybe he's had some injuries in the past and they're starting him off slow with the carries. The thing I don't understand is if they're going to give Morris more carries, then just start Morris, not Maroney. The same goes with my RB3, just start Hall if he's going to get more carries then Young. Not that I'm supposed to get these coaches, but why start a player, only to have the #2 get more work.

RB1 Grant

RB2 Maroney

RB3 Young/Hall

RB4/5 Norwood

RB4/5 Slaton

RB6 Morris (inj)

I'm sticking with Maroney at the flex position over Ronnie Brown, Warrick Dunn, Joey Galloway and Derrick Mason. If Morris gets significantly more action than him, I'll be looking at other options going forward.

I owned Maroney last season and kept telling myself the same thing...next week he'll get carries because __________. It doesn't matter what the reason is - Maroney will NOT get boatloads of carries. He just won't.

Yudkin has been money when it comes to any and all Patriots news...and he's been saying Maroney won't tote the rock 20+ times a game for more than a year. He's said that won't change with Brady going down. Sooner or later we'll all learn to listen to David.

I will say this, though, if it's a win or go home situation for the Pats they may be inclined to give him the ball a lot more, but I don't think we are at the stage of the season where they need to overuse him.

I don't know about Maroney this week.

IMHO, the game plan is going to be run and short passes to move the chains and take shots down field every now and then to keep the defense honest.

This means alot of sharing between Maroney, Morris, Jordan and Faulk for rushes and short dump offs/screens.

I also think BB will try to get Jordan more envolved to allow him to "exact revenge" against the team that let him walk for an aging Curtis Martin.

wk2 Maroney: 12/45/0; 4/36/0

not necessarily.certainly not a won or go home, but for wk2, it's a pretty big divisional game that if the Jets win, will hold a 2-0 divisional record right out of the gates and finish, at worst with NE 1-1 in a division that has suddenly tightened up to a dog-fight between the Pats, Jets and the Bills.

Divisional record could very well decide the AFC East champ.

So with that in mind, maybe they do go with Maroney a little more, which completely contradicts my angle, but I'm sticking with it :lmao:

Yeah, I'm a Jets fan, but also a Maroney owner. Maroney never gets the rock at the GL... it's Evans or Morris... and now maybe Jordan too. Can Maroney get 80 yards with no TD's this week? I think that is his upside. I'll start Slaton, even against the Ravens. The Jets run D isn't the marshmellow it was last year. I think The Jets will come out loaded to stop the run, and dare Cassel to beat them with Moss and Welker.

Now.... this is likely EXACTLY what Belechick will expect. Look for the Pats to throw early, and then after establishing a passing attack, go to the running game.... but that is predicated on whether or not Cassel can get the passing game going.

Maroney is on my bench for now. If I had Morris, I'd start HIM over Maroney. I doubt that ANY NE RB (barring a big play) will break 100 yards all year. At least with Morris, you know he gets the rock inside the 10.
