We all know how toxic some parts of the internet can be. I think a) I may be addicted and b) my addiction may make my life worse.

So starting today, I'm attempting to quit twitter* and the Political Forum for a week. I know I'll miss them both - at least at first. But I hope it will improve my life overall.

Anyone else ever do something similar?

*I still have my Firm's twitter account. But I don't follow any politics/controversial accounts from there. Just local or real estate law news.

I quit the political forum for about two-three months once. I was happier. That said, these days, I think I need an outlet. I don't find myself arguing with people in the PSF right now because I'm concentrating on really serious problems in America that need compromise and people listening to each other about certain things that have reared their ugly head in the worst of ways.

I was never on Twitter, but I deleted Facebook off my phone about 3 months ago.   It was weird at first, but I dont miss it now and I am a bit calmer at night.

Been posting less and less here, but not sure I would ever give this up.  Too much of an outlet for me to chat about movies and music.

Still, I have a charging dock for the phone that I put on the bedroom, so I have my phone on me less and less.

I’ve started just sitting out front listening to new playlists on Spotify, and just taking a few deep breathes and look around. I know every square inch of my yard, but I swear if I look hard enough I’ll see something I have not noticed before.

Keeps me off Facebook, the news, and all other distractions. At this point I’ve tried to reduce my life to my little piece of property and the beautiful people that live within her boundaries. That’s all I really care about anymore.

FB is a cesspool and a big part of the problem. Almost as much as Fox News.

Let's not bring the politics forum into the thread about quitting the politics thread.

Yeah, I quit the that forum for awhile and look at twitter less. I also use twitter for things like fantasy football, sports, etc so I did make a list to separate my interests so I can still scroll for fantasy news without usually seeing anything political. Sometimes I just need a break from all of that.

I left the politics forum the night that it was clear people in Georgia would vote a child molester in as a senator vs. a moderate decent human being.

Immediately life was better.

I quit facebook about 6 months ago. I actually don't miss it at all.
