Somebody get Merriman some Roids (1 Viewer)

could also have to do with the fact that Wade Phillips now has DeMarcus Ware playing Shawne Merriman this year in Dallas. The Chargers whole team is in shambles and I hope Marty Schottenheimer is sitting at home laughing every week

That's it.

It is sad what a ####ty coach can do with amazing talent.

The whole team is shot to Hell. Merriman gets a lot more tackles now, but there is no QB pressure generated from anywhere. It has nothing to do with Merriman and everything to do with the coaching.

Agreed. As advertised, Cotrell has totally taken the bite and the pass rush out of the Chargers. Roids is a good hater excuse but I don't think is based in reality. Not to mention that the Chargers' could stop the run last year and were ahead in most games which led to obvious passing situations. That's obviously not the case but why let facts get in the way...back to our Merriman hating thread....

I agree with this entire post, but especially with the bolded part. Shame on Chargers owners. They screwed up royally. Has there been any quotes of them trying to spin the current situation?

Yet I don't feel like I can bench him, as he could go off in any week.

Meanwhile, he's killing my D. So I probably wll bench his ###, and he'll get 5 sacks.

Not to mention he got lit up by 5 foot nothing MJD today.
MJD was on the Jim Rome show this morning, and Jason Whitlock (filling in for Rome) was going off about that hit. Anyone have a video link to it?

This PFT article has couple of pics that are rather telling.
I don't get it. In one photo he is wearing his shoulder pads and in the other he isn't. Wouldn't most people look smaller without all their equipment on?
I was thinking the same thing. Just seemed like bad blog writing to me.
I dont see any shoulder pads. Are you saying he is wearing padding? He just looks swole in the first.Look at his neck size and form as a solid example.

On the radio this morning, he was talking about how he also played cornerback in High School, and that he loved it. I love this guy.

That's the thing...he's not wearing shoulder pads.
He's not wearing pads in either pic, but the second one is from further away and/or a different lens size. While he is admittedly smaller in the second, the difference is not as dramatic as it seems due to photo-optical reasons. We also don't know at which point in his training these two pics were taken. One could have been taken right before TC when players are at their biggest and the other after a lot of condidtioning has gone on which tends to start eating away at size.Obviously he is smaller in the second pic, but they are not as big a difference as it seems.

I don't need photos to tell me that he's much worse this year. Yeah, he gets tackles. Any decent LB will get tackles. But people were talking about him as one of the best defensive players in the game. What an embarrassment that this guy made the Pro Bowl.

You guys remember that movie back in the early 90's...."The Program"?? Steve Lattimer = Shawn Merriman.

It says first pic was taken May 5 2005, second May 30 2007. Even the difference between the 2006 and 2007 is visible, though not as much.I understand what you're saying with the lens, but lens or not, his neck, shoulders, and chest are all clearly smaller.

What I want to know is how did it take until halfway through 2006 to have the first positive test when he clearly was using since probably 2004? Thats what I want to know

And yep, he's pretty much Lattimer

Yes, May 2005 was just after the draft, when he thought he was going to be a defensive end rather than a linebacker.

The positive test was in August 2006. It just wasn't announced until late October. His 19 clean tests were after August. So he could have been taking them from 2004 through . . . I don't know, June 2006? . . . if he had somehow avoided detection until then. (I don't know how long they stay in your system. But if he had been taking them right up through his positive test in August, you'd think that he would have failed a test in early September or something as well, right?)
