He's a 1000 times better than Warren Sapp. That guy can hardly spit out a sentence.

Disagree. Sapp has a true football player's mentality to me. He's not as good with the x's and o's but he's good for getting a player's perspective. Dukes makes you want to slap him in the face to get him to stop talking.

I cringe every time I see Dukes on the set when I hit 'play' on the DVR'd Total Access.

Dukes "speaks" intelligently. And before anyone jumps on that comment, I mean he puts sentences together well. That's it. The football knowledge is just so ridiculous. He'll make a decent point here and there, but that's not often. Sapp is the opposite. He doesn't speak as intelligently, but I'm a BIT more willing to listen to his opinion. He still says some ridiculous things (Aikman wasn't a leader, Tim Tebow is a great leader).Funny you guys mention this, thought I was the only one being annoyed. Prime is the best former player/analyst they have but he's got HOF activities to worry about. I'd put Sapp well ahead of Faulk who in turn is way ahead of Dukes.Every last one of them, including the guy holding the mike, is worlds better than ESPN's Steve Young.

Possibly because I used to listen to him and christopher rude on their morning show in the atl. Good guy. Bit of a goofball, but he knows his stuff. I think everyone just likes to hate on everybody.
Little known fact. It was Jamie Dukes 'defensive line university' training program that whipped haynesworth into shape (and taught him techniques) when he came back from suspension. I believe that after he signed that big deal he quit working out with him as well IIRC.

I'll continue to watch as long as Rich Eisen is on the show, just would be nice to see more Mayock, Lombardi or Wyche instead of Dukes.

watching it right now............Dukes is backpedaling big time after Lombardi beotch slapped him. pretty funny.for me, Dukes is hard to listen to because he just seems to like to hear himself talk. even if he's making good points i drift off cause he's annoying. making his points while saying less might do him some good.

Most of the former players are poor anylists. Dukes is entering Emmit Smith levels of irratable. Agree that Young, while brilliant, is a ##### and only slightly better than those two. Deion is best. Sapp I like. Faulk is OK. The rest I would rather have news type, nerdy white guys who never played a down in their lives but are good for TV a la Eisen.

Lombardi called him a shill for Vince Young, that was pretty good.
Some analysts are pretty good, but I would like to see more of Sterling and Mayock and less Dukes. I do like Marshall and Deion is good if you ignore the self promotion.
Baldinger is good too at times.

I can hardly stand to watch the show. Most of them stink. Deion's voice and way he talks is irritating. Dukes is an idiot. I really can't believe that they can't get decent ex-players to host. They need some of the guys off NFL Radio like Gannon, Miller or Tucker

Nothing about his screaming gets me pumped up. There are plenty of announcers who can convey the emotions of the moment without screaming like a girl whose favorite boy band just came on stage.When the announcer is twice as excited as the fans of the team who scored, it's over the top. If he just yelled during touchdowns it would be one thing, but he does it all through the game.
It doesn't help that he seems to be the announcer for every other Texans game to where I have to hear him all the time.

Rarely watch the talking heads shows on NFLN. Eisen must feel like Nurse Ratchett with Dukes, Irvin and Sapp. Is this really the best NFLN can do?

Michael Irvin sucks so bad it is sickening, was anyone else just watching that moron, I was so dumbfounded I couldn't even change the channel, he makes Dukes looks like Einstein. I was so sad the day that NFLN had said they were bringing him on after ESPN finally fired him, he was the main reason I stopped watching ESPN.

Agree. This man is a moron. Can't connect two coherent sentences together to save his life. I have to tune my ears for ghetto speak to decipher what I am hearing. He flat doesn't listen to reason, and hangs himself anytime Eisen gives him just a little rope to hang himself. And for some reason, I can no longer see him without picturing his 'come hither' look on the cover of "Out" magazine lifting his jersey to expose his midriff. Irvin needs to go away. He infects any conversation with a droppage of collective IQ and is creepy looking as he enters middle age.

In the Dukes camp here. Stuff he has said over the years has turned out right. Sapp is an acquired taste and I am slowly warming up to him now

You know, something about Irvin I really liked on NFL Network today. While he was very opinionated and heated, he really made a great point about DJax holding out and how teams are so unwilling to take care of their star players.
He was telling a story about how Javon Walker was holding out of training camp for the Packers years ago b/c he was only making 400K. Supposedly Walker was in contact with Irvin about it. Anyway, Irvin mentioned how Favre called Walker and tried to convince him to come in to camp.
Irvin was furious, talking about how Favre had a $100 Million contract (exageration but still...) and how he should have shut up and let Walker take care of his business. He mentioned how Walker felt like he was being a bad teammate after talking to Favre so he ended his holdout and reported. Then sure enough, Walker blew his knee out in camp and was never the same again. Of course, Favre and his huge contract were nowhere to be seen after that.
I like both Warren and Irvin's "passion" when they talk. Even Dukes to an extent (when he's not talking out of his ###). But they really need to take some pointers from guys like Johnson, Lombardi, Mayock etc.
At the very least they need to split those guys up. B/c when Sapp and Dukes tag team Fran Charles it's just ugly.
