Each year the 3 division winners are designated as division captains. The other 9 teams go into the team draft pool and the captains draft the teams they want in their division. The captain with the best record chooses the draft order between the three captains and the draft is snake style.

I think it adds another fun and strategic element to the game.

I can see this turning into a squabble though....especially assigning draft picks. Owners getting pi$$y with one another....The divisional realignment seems decent....

We used to do this every year. Top 4 teams are in different divisions, last 4 teams in different divisions, the other 8 scattered about.

I kinda like the idea of the top 4 teams being the captains of their divisions and choosing the remaining teams to be in their divisions. Kind of a reverse playground thing cause you would want the worst teams in your division.

I agree about the squabble part. Maybe tweak it just a little so that the best record gets to pick which pick he wants, then the second gets next pick and the third of the three gets what's left.

We're considering doing a soccer style premiere league.

Right now we have two leagues of 14. Seven teams make the playoffs per side...only one team gets a bye. Super bowl is basically the two individual championships and the scores are compared to get the Super bowl winner.

We're thinking about having a premiere league and a classic league (lower teams). 7 teams from each move up to the premiere making the 14 teamer. Remainder move down. Next year....worst three move down...best three in lower move up.

But now we're going to go to three 12 leaguers...and it looks like we'll have to have a premiere/classic/challenge(d) leagues. Worst two of original two 14s move down to lowest and eight new players move into new division. We used to do random, but people want to play versus other people. Hard to satisfy everyone and still make it look somewhat random/fair.

We do this in a couple leagues and is a nice throw in when you are awaiting the season to start. Super bowl winner gets first pick and the runner up gets second. They head up their respective divisions and draft the other 4 teams who will compose their division(snake style).

It is truly a good time, and makes for some good message board material as 1.01 is basically deemed the worst team in the league (dynasty league)

Interesting. Although I think I would miss the consistent division rivalries and team strength ebbs & flows of a long-time dynasty.

Yep...I should have specified being that I am in a Dynasty thread and my contribution is actually fairly worthless.

Our schedule is a bit strange in the HyperActive leagues. We play 12 games in the regular season, 11 of those against all other teams in the conference and then each team has a "rival" in their division they play twice in a year. The rival changes each year and after each team in the division have been rivals, we realign the divisions. I do like the idea of having the division winners draft the other teams. Right now, we roll online dice and divisions are random.

we do this every 3 years with the captains being the 3 with the most points over those 3 years. best team tho takes the 3rd/4th/last picks. it should mean that every division has at least 1 weak team and 2 strong teams.

League champion in ours gets to boot one team out of his division and replace it with another.

League champ also picks the theme of the team names each year.
