I am officiating a wedding for two very good friends in two weeks (my first). I’m almost done most of the ceremony but really wanted to do a reading that was not Corinthians. They are avid music fans, so I was hoping to read some song lyrics. I’ve been googling and there are some interesting ideas but nothing is jumping out at me, so I thought I would once again reach out to the wisdom of FBG.

Favourite artists that cross over both of them include Journey, Billy Joel, Streetheart (local Winnipeg band), Asia, Queen.

I think it is a little tricky because most of these songs are 1st person POV and that's kind of awkward  for an official to read about another couple. I have another Van Morrison recommendation, not sure if they are fans though. It's also religious still- not sure if that is a bonus or not.

This is one thing I have been most concerned about.

The groom is a classic rock guy through and through and the bride is more of a sappy romantic song gal, which is making this tougher than I thought. This one has some potential!

The wedding was this past Saturday and I ended up going with Queen, My Best Friend. It worked well into the overall vibe of the ceremony. Everything went well despite a few jitters. I received tons of compliments on the ceremony and the reading in particular.
