Song lyrics with grammar problems (1 Viewer)

Inspiration for the thread:

“I've got hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I

I love “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea”, but:

But for now we are young, let us lay in the sun/And count every beautiful thing we can see

You a stupid ho, you a, you a stupid ho.

Verbless.
John McWhorter would enjoy proving you wrong.  But I think most modern linguists would hang their arguments on the same hook - which is that American English is a mongrel language that expectedly adapts and flows between culture microcosms.

edit: I guess I should say prove in quotes, since it's not actually proof.  He is a preeminent linguist, but it's still his opinion.

"I don't wanna hear you lie tonight
Now that I've become who I really are"

I'm sure you'll find some way to forgive her, though.

The chorus of a Christmas song I am unusually fond of ends with "Merry Christmas, I could care less" .

So many songs have incorrect use of the subjunctive mood.

"I wish I was a little bit taller."

"What if God was one of us?"

"Damn, I wish I was your lover."

"If I was to say to you, girl, we couldn't get much higher."
