SP Mock Invitational--5th round? Uh huh....5th round...... (1 Viewer)

I'm hoping if the Vikes don't go WR in the first take a safety instead, with Joseph at the top of the list.
He seems like the kind of player a GM will fall in love with in the late first because of the tape and ignore the injury.  If his medicals all checked out he's easily a first rounder.

So if I had moved up for him it wouldn't have been considered a reach?

I tend to agree he is worth a 1st round pick. I just falsely thought people were not really aware of him so I stopped trying to move up.

I think he is a good fit for the Vikings defense and should be a very nice addition to the Giants as well.

I don't know much about the character concerns and I think he may have been drafted sooner if not for that. This is an area that the Vikings have been known to take players off their lists completely. I am not sure if that will be the case with Nkemdiche for them or not.
With the need NYG has on their D line, it seemed crazy not to try and get him. A 1st round grade with a 6th round head on his shoulders. May work out for whoever takes him IRL, may not. If he can keep it clean I think itll be a huge acquisition for whoever.

I don't think so.  I imagine a savvy team will grab him at the back end of the first.  He really flashes on tape.

I think Booker or Dixon might look like Forte to Adam Gase.

Whitehair would be a reasonable pick too.

Anybody already regret their picks based on how things are shaping up?
I'm really not all that enamored with Hargreaves, but there aren't a whole lot of corners in this draft.  I like taking him at 9, Joseph in the second to shore up a now ball-hawking secondary, and then just letting the defensive line talent fall into my lap.  Not intending to tip my hand or anything here...

I still think Tampa is really primed to be a team set to move back into the teens considering their needs versus other teams and the players who are projected to be on the board at that pick.

Especially if Stanley or Tunsil is still there, Tenn could pounce and set TB up for a great haul.

2.42 Dolphins select Cody Whitehair, OG, Kansas State

The Dolphins feel they can get a dynamic 2nd piece for a RBBC to go with Ajayi later in the draft.  Instead, they have their choice of all the OG in the draft.  Whitehair starts from day 1, and makes every back look better.

I think it's buzz. After Elliott there are several solid backs each that would thrive in the right scheme.
I tend to think it is smoke as well. I have done a really good job of not listening to pundits and draft talking heads for the most part. I get a glimpse into that reading some of Fausts blurbs and so on but for the most part I have tuned most of that out this year.

There has been a quietness about some players that suggests teams are just pretending those guys don't exist, which means the opposite of their actual interest in those players.

2.44 Raiders select Keanu Neal, S, Florida

He was 1B to Joseph as far as we are concerned, and there's a bit of a drop off.  S is a need, he can study under Nelson, and maybe beat out Nate Allen.

Back to @JetMaxx for Titans pick.

Hey, if you are within 3 or 4 picks, send a wish list, and write up pick later.  Get your guys.  Let's blow through 3rd round by Wed.

This is a great suggestion.

The Raiders pick was 44 overall btw.

I like Neal also but I don't think he offers the same range or coverage skills as Karl Joseph.

One thing I think I have learned from this mock draft is that Joseph may be a 1st round pick.

Saints at 47 will listen to offers for us to move down. If interested plz send along before I'm OTC.

2.45 Titans select Hunter Henry, TE Arkansas

2 30+ yr old TEs on the roster. Walker was great but the abilty to to add the best TE in the draft to play with the Franchise for the next 10 years was too much to pass up.

2.46 Detroit Lions select Le'Raven Clark, OT, Texas Tech

Shortlist 5 odd picks out was Joseph, Neal, Clark and Cravens.

I'm into stocking the defence throughout most of the draft but we have Michael freaking Ola at right tackle and the stolid but overall average Reiff at LT.

Clark has crazy measurables and offers a very good chance of hugely upgrading the tackle positions in the next year or so.

Getting Mariota a solid playmaker, like it.

I agree. I know the Panthers need a CB, but I really never figured out the love of Hargreaves and why he was way better than the other 3 that seem to be mid to late 1st/early 2nd in all mocks. He's just always been mocked top 10 and I just haven't ever seen a lot about him. Maybe it is because he is always so far gone that I've never read up on him in terms of the Panthers.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him drop a bit, but I do feel like we get hit over the head with Ramsey and hear nothing about Hargreaves other than he's top 10.

He really is everything you want in a corner, but he lacks ideal size.  I remember watching the Gators a few times in 2014, thinking he was pretty amazing, and really wanting him to end up with the Bucs.  The kid is all over the place constantly making plays on the ball.  He's definitely legitimate. I do worry about him at 5'9 covering NFL #1s like Julio Jones, Kelvin Benjamin, etc.  That being said, he has plenty of experience and success going up against some pretty great WRs in the SEC.

Belay what I said about those trade offers, I'm kinda surprised to see this guy still here. This year's SPARQ darling along the OL, the Saints can get him into the rotation at OG on Day 1 and ideally kick him outside to tackle in a couple of years when he hones his technique. Still a little raw, but you can't teach 6'6" and 325#.

2.47 - Saints select Germain Ifedi, OT, Texas A&M

Where is Connor Cook going to go?  Somewhere unrealistic?
IRL, if Cook falls past the Bears at 41, someone in the 42-48 range (none of whom really need a QB) is going to be picking up a pretty nice haul to move down IMO. I don't see any way he makes it into the late 2nd.

Mike Mayock in my opinion used to be good at identifying defensive back talent. Although now he has gone over to the darkside of the draft process, here is his top 100 list for 2016.

19. Karl Joseph, S, West Virginia

He's actually the guy I was tempted to trade up to get at your pick, but I am trying to still keep IRL in this draft and I am pretty sure the Saints aren't going to be trading partners with the Panthers to let the Panthers get a guy they want.

Definitely one of those cases where mocks <> reality. If you have a mock guy (sorry Soulfly) in Cleveland who believes the RG3 story that he can rekindle 2012 and that the OL will be fine without Mack/Schwartz, he's going to pass on Cook. Same with Andy for Denver. Last mock he took Cook, so he's doing something different. Also, hard to work out a trade when the picks go so slow, whereas in the NFL, that is their job so they are watching everything and paying attention when people drop.

I have to think Lynch dropped further than I think he will in reality and Cook as well. QBs will always be at a premium in the real NFL, but in FF mocks not so much. Maybe I am proven wrong, but I'd be shocked if Cook lasts this long. In this mock, he could easily keep dropping.
