Sports talk radio is the worst (1 Viewer)

Is there anything worse than listening to Sports talk radio? I can't listen to Colin Cowherd without wanting to gauge my eyes out.

I stick to XM/Sirus and listen to the MLB, NFL and NBA network channels.

It's pure ****ery on local and some national shows that report, and talk about sports like the ****ing howusewives of Beverly Hills.

I can't even stomach local sports talk anymore.

Im the opposite. The local stuff is good in these parts. Of course, they dont talk sports non-stop all day long.

The best thing about Sirius is that there are so many options that I never have to resort to listening to local sports talk radio.
In Baltimore they have a former police officer during the morning sports show (no sports background) and Vinny Ceratto doing another 4 hours. He hardly knows anything about football and absolutely nothing about every other sport. Just terrible.

DP sucks since he left ESPN. Dont listen to radio, but know most of the national talking heads from their work on TV. The bombastics and assumed profundity is what keeps me away, but what most irritates me is how little they know about the teams in major sports and play of any but the headliners. I would be embarrassed to be in that position and not be at least conversant about the Milwaukee Bucks or San Diego Padres or have a passing knowledge of NFL depth charts.

Why don't you like The DP Show. Good interviews, he's usually got a good opinion, staff is pretty funny.

:whoosh:

There isn't anything close to being as horrible as the Dan Lebaturd show with the moron Stugotz. The absolute worst of the worst. Both guys think they are hilarious, its sports talk not a bad comedy channel. It boggles my mind how these 2 idiots are still on the air, but it is ESPN & they really don't have a clue either

You don't get the show.

It's simulcast on NBCSN.

And for General, DP has become waaaay too smug & self-congratulatory on his new show, none of the empty ballcaps on his staff can give him a decent ration of #### for his biglytude to keep him half-humble and, ever since they got publicists, 99% of sports-figure interviews arent worth the saliva they're spat with.

I'm all Wisconsin teams, but I listen to PA and Charch on Friday mornings for the football feast.  The focus mostly on Vikings but are very knowledgeable about the entire league.  They also don't think they are comedians either.  Good level headed stuff.

Agreed. While Im not a fan of the morning show, I enjoy the others. Like many before me, I couldn't stand the Common Man for a long time. He's grown to be one of my favorites. Barreiro is pretty knowledgeable about most topics.

no more Czabe.. just Scott, Solly and Tim.

Czabe got the axe a couple months ago now
I like Czabe, but I think this situation sort of proves that he's right on his stance on paying college athletes. He always rails against it because it's not about the individual players, it's about the schools. So the new owners took over the show, got rid of the star and kept the cast. Now it's pretty much the same show - just without the big name and salary.

Mike Francessa just talks about how the Yanks/Mets/Giants/Jets/Knicks are terrible for 5 mins then fields 4 hours of angry calls telling him he's wrong.

Obnoxious but the bait works every time

i can't see it lasting. they are just sort of .... awkward without Czabe. i dunno. i miss the big lug :(

I will tell you what national show I dig.

Ferrell On The Bench. CBS Sports Radio. Guy is an absolute burn out nut bar. I went to a few Marlins games with him when he was the local morning guy here on 560 WQAM way back in the early 2000's Like 2001....the locals were freaking out with him. He was nuts.

Guy got a National show eventually. Pretty entertaining. But if you hate his voice (froggy as hell) you can't listen to him.

He is still around?

He had a late night spot on the fan in the NYC area 20 years ago. Would have sworn lung cancer would have taken him down by now.

Generally I agree, but the one sports talk show I can't get enough of is Patriots PFW in Progress.  A fantastic podcast for fans of the pats and really anyone that likes thorough, insightful, and hilarious team coverage.

I enjoy listening to Jim Miller (the ex Steelers and Bears QB) and Pat Kirwan (the ex coach and front office guy) on my drive home on the nfl station on sirius.

This.

I can stomach Mike and Mike. I like Russell.

Lebatard is the worst show ever on the radio or TV.   HELLO?!?! You're on espn, how about talking about sports?!?! Just awful

Paul Finebaum has taken the crown of the worst & biggest doosh. This jerk doesn't know a thing about sports & I assume was beat up on a regular basis as a child.

You're using flawed logic and drawing the wrong conclusion about pay for college athletes.
