Thought Californians voted to end time changes 2 years ago. No more fall back.

Yes. This. I love it.Let's do it. One of my favorite days. Extra hour of daylight in the evening.
Weather lady on the news today mentioned "an extra hour of daylight starting tomorrow." I was thinking, no, it's the exact same amount of daylight, it just begins and ends an hour later. Made me wonder if she was just making idle chatter or was really that stupid.Let's do it. One of my favorite days. Extra hour of daylight in the evening.
I don't get the health thing. I go to bed around 1030 every night and get up at 530. Last weekend we had friends in town and I went to bed at 2am one night at 3am the next night. Does that have any impact on my health for the next week?We voted to remain daylight savings time and to not fall back in Nov. They're always talking about how bad it is for your health yet for whatever reason it hasn't changed.
Its so much better to give people another thing to be outraged about.Arizona where I live is about the only place that gets this right. Time to do away with it.
Florida voted to stay on DST in 2018, but thanks to Congress' inability to do anything, we have to deal with this crap again. We voted to remain daylight savings time and to not fall back in Nov. They're always talking about how bad it is for your health yet for whatever reason it hasn't changed.
Here's my understanding mixed in with thoughts. Quality of sleep and not quantity is key as part of good health mentally, emotionaly and physically. Your brain, your heart, your body needs to rest and recharge so it's ready to gear up full steam again the next day. This going back and forth for even an hour disrupts your circadian rhythm, which can take up to a few days to adjust. For those who don't get quality sleep to begin with, changing the time leads to even more disruption in their circadian rhythm because of the hours there is light has changed. For some, no worries. They get quality of sleep. For others who don't or are at risks for heart attack or stroke, this may be a concern for them.I don't get the health thing. Who's outraged. It would be nice for us insomniacs not to have such changes. Its so much better to give people another thing to be outraged about.
Yup. I'm sure my occasional stumbling has to do with insomnia.I'm falling forward this year
Technically its faux outrage which is the best kind of outrage from outside observers perspective.Who's outraged. It would be nice for us insomniacs not to have such changes.
Are you married or do you have someone come in and change your clocks for you?Completely unaware that this was happening last night. Woke up at 7 and was baffled at how dark it was.![]()
Usable daylight is what most people mean.Weather lady on the news today mentioned "an extra hour of daylight starting tomorrow." I was thinking, no, it's the exact same amount of daylight, it just begins and ends an hour later. Made me wonder if she was just making idle chatter or was really that stupid.
I'm up at 6:00 every morning, so once again, no change for me. What's really odd is it was the morning news lady who said she is up by some ungodly hour like 2:30 every morning. If anything, she lost an hour. But perhaps that was indeed her thought. If so, she probably should have simply said so instead of making the statement she did and leaving us to wonder.Usable daylight is what most people mean.
Technically this is not true either, assuming you don't live near the equatorWeather lady on the news today mentioned "an extra hour of daylight starting tomorrow." I was thinking, no, it's the exact same amount of daylight, it just begins and ends an hour later. Made me wonder if she was just making idle chatter or was really that stupid.
Could have had it all along if they just keep it where it is and stop ####### changing it.Our 4 month long national nightmare is over. Now there will be enough daylight after work to actually do something.
CA (and myself) voted to change it. I believe the amendment passed, but I have no idea what happened after the vote in 2018.Could have had it all along if they just keep it where it is and stop ####### changing it.
So stupid. Just stupid. I cant believe this is still a thing.
Nothing will make everyone happy, but I am sure more people would prefer time in the afternoon with daylight to do things rather than have more light driving to work.Same people would be complaining how dark it is at 7:30 in the morning if we kept it dst.
Very true.Nothing will make everyone happy, but I am sure more people would prefer time in the afternoon with daylight to do things rather than have more light driving to work.
Polling suggests this is incorrect.CA (and myself) voted to change it. I believe the amendment passed, but I have no idea what happened after the vote in 2018.

That seemed like a very general poll. For a specific one that I was referring to:Polling suggests this is incorrect.
I'd love to hear your explanation for this statement. I didn't say today had just as much daylight as yesterday, or as much as tomorrow will. I'm saying if we had 7:14 of sunlight today, that we'd have 7:14 of sunlight no matter what time you set the clock too, so long as you didn't artificially force it past midnight.Technically this is not true either, assuming you don't live near the equator
Gotcha. I didn't read it that way initially and was just being a sarcastic jerk. Don't mind me...I'd love to hear your explanation for this statement. School needs to start 30-60 minutes later. Clocks should not be moved forward or backwards.Change the time of school then. Geeze
I remember in 7th grade classes started at 730 am. Now around here at least it's 830 am. Not sure if this is Ca state law or not.School needs to start 30-60 minutes later. Clocks should not be moved forward or backwards.
Here in the 21st century, the devices which tell us time are smart enough to automatically change with DST. Please join us.Are you married or do you have someone come in and change your clocks for you?
How about we keep it the way it is now? Much prefer light later in the day than early in the morning.WDIK2 said:How about this Fall we just fall back 30 minutes and keep it that way? Compromise. It would probably be chaos for a couple days while people struggle with the math, but they could make the change late on a Friday night to give people a couple more days to figure it out.
You must be fun at parties. I think its obvious what she was getting at.Weather lady on the news today mentioned "an extra hour of daylight starting tomorrow." I was thinking, no, it's the exact same amount of daylight, it just begins and ends an hour later. Made me wonder if she was just making idle chatter or was really that stupid.
Will someone think of the children? One year old twins are all sorts of out-of-whack with their schedules with only an hour.
Fixed. Will someone think of the parents of the children
You mean being wrong? You must be fun at parties. I think its obvious what she was getting at.
