SSL #4: Roster Worksheets (1 Viewer)

4.08 HellToupee - Matt Ryan QB9 ATL (4)

16.08 HellToupee - Byron Leftwich QB34 TBB (8)

18.08 HellToupee- Pat White QB? MIA (6)

I seem to have a fundamental problem of drafting a backup QB in a 16 team man league. Having Leftwich as my backup is a tough minefield to cross. Took White in the 18th for ####s & giggles . I'm betting he'll be listed as a WR to run the wildcat and thus so makes him very interesting.

3.09 HellToupee - Ronnie Brown RB17 MIA (6)

5.09 HellToupee - Darren McFadden RB27 OAK (9)

7.09 HellToupee - Rashard Mendenhall RB37 PIT (4)

11.09 HellToupee - Michael Bush RB57 OAK (9)

McFadden is the key here and probably to my whole team. I think he's going into this season vastly underrated but hedged my bet on him with Bush. I think Medenhall's talent is going to force his way into a split of the carries with fast willie

1.09 HellToupee - Andre Johnson WR2 HOU (10)

6.08 HellToupee - Bernard Berrian WR35 MIN (9)

8.08 HellToupee - Muhsin Muhammed WR45 CAR (4)

9.09 HellToupee - Hakeem Nicks WR52 NYG (10)

12.08 HellToupee - Bobby Engram WR67 KCC (8)

Happy here but wish I had a 6th receiver. AJ is the linchpin . Not crazy about BB , got him at the end of a mini run .I do think BB will have more recps w/Sage or Brett .Mushin needs to get me 60-65rec .Love Hakeem , think he's going to have a very solid rookie year. Engram is a nice WR 5 in this format

2.08 HellToupee - Tony Gonzalez TE2 ATL (4)

17.09 HellToupee - Alex Smith TE29 TBB (8)

I never draft a top TE early and wish I didn't here. Always prefer to draft a 6-10 range TE but the 2ppr drew me to Gonzalez but I'd much rather wait. Considered Gates but passed, didn't want to see his name each week on the injury report. I'm happy landing Smith as my backup in the 17th , I think he'll see a lot of action in NE. Still not happy going with a TE early

14.08 HeTollupee - Garrett Hartley PK05 NOS (5)

15.09 HeTollupee - Neil Rackers PK11 ARI (4)

Two kickers from high powered offenses with different bye weeks. I'm satisfied here

10.08 HellToupee - NYG DEF/ST #2 (10)

13.09 HeTollupee - CAR DEF/ST #13 (4)

Wanted the Giants D not only because of their talent but also their bye week with Houston. With only the Giants and Texans off if left all other D's available for a backup. Got burnt in the PDSL with no backup D and wanted to make sure it didn't happen here
You're putting a lot of faith in Ryan - his numbers were pretty pedestrian last year, and Turner is the hammer in the red zone. You might rewarded, but I think he'll take less of a statistical step than people expect. I don't know what to think about Leftwich. I continue to believe that he's a starting quality NFL QB, but he keeps getting submarined in the open market, taken by teams that aren't willing to trust him to be more than a backup or a bridge to a youngster. I do think he'll win the job, but he won't hold it all year. I like the White pick for the same reasons Cobbs is a good late SL pick - Miami will give him enough novelty plays to score 3 or 4 times during the season.RB is decent quality, but thin. If Brown is used the way he was last year, and White takes away wildcat snaps (well, at least you hedged this), then you don't really have an RB1 - although McFadden might take care of that, and I expect him to catch 40-50 balls this year if he can stay healthy. Mendenhall is a good swing for the fences pick, but you'll need Brown or the OAK RBs to cover him until Willie gets hurt. I still think Willie is the man to begin the season. Bush might have been one of the steals of the draft, I wavered between him and Choice, but my #1 RB already had a week 9 bye.

WR - you'll need White to be listed here because this is a thin group. AJ is a wonderful anchor, and Berrian will have 6 or so scoring weeks with his deep speed - with Mumu filling in the gaps, but you are putting a lot of faith in Nicks and Engram - you'll get away with it if one of them pans out, but it means this group doesn't really much upside unless Nicks is a stud out of the gate.

TE - why are you so unhappy about Gonzo? I think he's really worth a first rounder in this format, people just don't adjust to the scoring system and factor in the steep dropoff at TE very well. Smith is probably TE2 behind Baker at best (they signed him to a 5 year deal), and we'll see what happens with Watson. You probably won't need him.

D/K - with your QB1, TE1, RB3, and WR3 off, you maybe should have avoided week 4 bye K and D - of course I made the same mistake with week 9 on my team. Leftwich and Smith will score for you that week, so you can't afford breakdowns anywhere else in your lineup.

You really need your 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks to hit, but if Brown and McFadden hit, they'll hit big and they could carry you deep into this thing.

14) Nugget

3.14 Nugget - Phillip Rivers QB5 SDC (5)

8.03 Nugget - Chad Pennington QB18 MIA (6)

I like Phillip Rivers a lot this season. I think LT and Sproles keep the defense honest, Gates, VJAX, Chambers and LT make great weapons. The AFC west has no scary secondaries, and the 1st place schedule gives the Charges less easy run out the clock games. Pennington is a QB I see finishing between QB 10-15, making a perfect #2. For each QB's bye week, the other plays on MNF ( at home I think).

4.03 Nugget - Marshawn Lynch RB20 BUF (9)

5.14 Nugget - Willie Parker RB30 PIT (8)

7.14 Nugget - Leon Washington RB41 NYJ (9)

14.03 Nugget - T.J. Ducket RB60 SEA (7)

Hopefully this group will be serviceable. Lynch dropped to the 4th due to the early suspension. If I can make it to week 4, I've got a non-RBBC starter with top 10 potential. Fast Willie should still get the majority of carries in PIT with Mendenhall still being unproven. Leon Washington was a cheap man's Sproles, and Duckett is the only TD scoring RB on the roster is Seattle. Does anyone seeing Julius Jones carrying the load for the Seahawks? Not a lot of RB's, but I like the group. The breakout game potential is there for everyone of these RB's.

1.14 Nugget - Reggie Wayne WR4 IND (6)

2.03 Nugget - Calvin Johnson WR6 DET (7)

6.03 Nugget - DeSean Jackson WR32 PHI (4)

9.14 Nugget - Percy Harvin WR53 MIN (8)

10.03 Nugget - Jeremy Maclin WR54 PHI (4)

18.03 Nugget - Austin Collie WR90 IND (6)

WR/WR start is something I've never done in a survivor league before. Reggie and Calvin both were great relative value picks and I think I got very lucky to land them. Hopefully they'll count each week as I miss the extra 2 roster spots that earlier draffts provide. DeSean and Maclin should do well on the pass first Eagles. Harvin is a wildcard, but I hope to see some Reggie Bush sightings and Favre may need a target. Collie was mostly Reggie Wayne insurance as he could see the field in case of a Wayne injury. He won't be more than the 5th target in the Indy offense otherwise. The 1st 5 WR's can be complete HR hitters.

12.03 Nugget - Bo Scaife TE20 TEN (7)

17.14 Nugget - Brad Cottam TE31 KCC (8)

Not a huge fan of the TE's after the top 4. Too many question marks for a 4th thru 8th round pick. Sciafe could do well in TEN and Cottam had a year behind Gonzo in KC. Cottam has the measurables to be a great target for Cassell.

13.14 Nugget - Nate Kaeding PK03 SDC (5)

15.14 Nugget - John Kasay PK15 CAR (4)

Don't like the QB1/K bye, but I like the early bye. Same with Kasay, want the early bye week.

11.14 Nugget - TEN DEF/ST #11 (7)

16.03 Nugget - KCC DEF/ST #28 (8)

Pair of defenses. Neither really jumps out, but hopefully they can get some sacks and turnovers.

Overall, I felt I managed the bye weeks well early. I like the starters at each position. I need to get through the Lynch suspension and have either Maclin or Harvin have an above average rookie season. Thanks fo rthe competition, sorry on the couple times I held the draft up for a couple hours.

Rivers and Pennington is a fine QB comb, didnt overpay for either guy - Rivers just needs to be as efficient as he was last year.Solid values at RB every RB pick, too - although I would have maybe gone with a 5th since you only have parker/duckett going in week 9 and Lynch's suspension to contend with - at least Parker should be the healthy unquestioned starter for Lynch's absence.

Love the WR WR start, and when you add Jackson, and the shotgun rookie approach, if one of the rookies hit, you should mop up at WR. Nice work, the extra investment has given you a trump card in surviving week to week. I would have maybe gone with another RB instead of Collie, simply because theres no guarantee that he's ahead of Garcon on the depth chart, and your rookies should get some novelty touches and score a few times even if they arent ready to be NFL WRs yet.

TE is painful, but not horrible considering how long you waited. Scaife should still catch 40-50 balls at least, and Cottam is a starter, even if he isn't in a TE friendly offense.

I dont know if Tenn was still worth taking as a top half D without Haynesworth, you might have been better off going TE here, and waiting to snag one of the last Ds, since no one was going to go 3 D with only 18 roster spots.

Overall, nice work, a top 3-5 contender because of the strong WR corps, and an RB corps that could really work out despite a small investment.
