Starlin Castro (1 Viewer)

Per Rotoworld:

WBBM Newsradio’s Mike Krauser reports that Starlin Castro is wanted for questioning by Chicago Police regarding an accusation of sexual assault.

According to the report, which has been relayed by CBSChicago.com, a woman in her 20s left a bar at 3 a.m. on September 29 and went to Castro’s apartment. The alleged victim said she blacked out but later awoke to find Castro sexually assaulting her. Castro has not yet been questioned by police because he left for his native Dominican Republic that morning and has not returned. Castro’s agent, Paul Kinzer, a detective assigned to the case and the Cubs have all declined comment to this point.

I am not quite sure what to make of this. Was he planning on leaving for the DR before this took place? If this happened on Sept. 29th, why did it, or did it, take her so long to come forward? Was she willingly hooking up with him and now that he won't return her calls is she now a scorned one night stand? More details to come I suppose, but bad news for certain.

The latest Rotoworld update:

Jay K. Reisinger and Michael P. Gillespie, attorneys for Starlin Castro, have said in a statement that they're "confident" the allegations of sexual assault against their client are "baseless."

The statement read: "We are aware of certain allegations that have been made against our client, Starlin Castro. We have thoroughly investigated this matter, and we are confident that these allegations are baseless. Given the sensitive nature of this matter, we cannot comment any further."

Of course this is what you would expect the lawyers to say, or say nothing at all.

It doesn't say when she went to police. Is it possible she went to the police soon after the incident but it's just now making its way to the news? It does seem as though she's just gone to the police. It's possible she was ashamed and took awhile to get some courage but so much time has passed I can't imagine this is going to go anywhere.

This is the way I read it

She reported it to the police the afternoon after the alleged incident. Castro had already left the country by then.

When you say "ashamed and took awhile to get some courage" do you mean "didn't realize how much money she could get out of him"

Thanks. I was entirely too lazy to read the whole article.
