StarStreet Issue (1 Viewer)

I play in lots of freerolls as do many of us on this board. My wife and mom also do being avid sports fans. I won a $10 ticket on a free roll on StarStreet and then placed 6th in that tourney, winning $200. After attempting to cash it out, I received the following e-mail from StarStreet:

It has become very apparent to us that you have created multiple accounts and are using them to enter into freerolls to try to get free money without the intent of ever depositing. You are not allowed to create multiple accounts on StarStreet. We will not be paying you out and we will be closing your other accounts. Please do not continue to play on StarStreet. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Peter

They think I have three accounts I am running when my mom, wife, and I set our lineups together. I have e-mailed back about their rude e-mail. If they don't want to have freerolls, why offer them? Just wanted to put that out there for anyone considering dealing with them. Will keep you updated on how they respond.

it is perfectly logical for them to come to that conclusion but since they screwed you over, i won't be playing there either. i suggest you post this over at rotogrinders. if they see it, they may give you your money to save face.

Thanks. I took your advice and did that. Funny thing though is that they never said anything even though each of us had won money before. I win big after earning a tourney ticket in a freeroll and they say nothing until after I win? What a joke...

wow.i dont go there, but on the surface that's not right.id be interested in knowing how this turns out for u.

What scum. I mean seriously, you win, you should get paid. Even amongst the offshore books, there are good and bad ones, leaving the legality of it out of this discussion for another topic. You win, the good ones pay, the bad ones don't. Stay clear of the bad ones and just play at the mainstream sites that you know will pay you out.

Best of luck, bud.

You know what this reminds me of... Collusion rules in online poker. If they think your entering tourneys even with people to often and they saw you in enough games together they would seize your accounts and funds claiming collusion rules.

Although its similar i think you have a major reason to be mad... the point of having freerolls is the get people to the site... if they win and take it off... then that's that, but perhaps they would tell others about the site. That's the whole reason why sites have freerolls, right?

Scummy IMO, but my guess is they think you are making multiple accounts to increase your odds.

ETA: definitely follow the suggestion and post it on rotogrinders... I'm happy to hear this news and im sure many others would want to be at the least warned

LMAO... mom and wife... I'm with starstreet on this one. Though I'm sure when you explain to them you share a computer with two women, one probably in her 60s+ that also enjoy their freerolls, they'll understand and pay all you guys out.

Received e-mail back from StarStreet. Much more civil response this time. IN order to prove that all 3 of us "exist" they ask for an e-mail attachment with picture ID's of all 3 of us. They explained how they do have issues with people creating multiple profiles without real people behind them and they are just being cautious. Sending off e-mail tonight and should have money soon thereafter. This would have been easy if they just asked for the ID the first time. Chalk one up for StarStreet customer service.

Hey Guys, Jeremy here the Founder/CEO of StarStreet.

First off, amphibianbri, I'm really sorry about the trouble here. Thank you for coming back in with that second post, I appreciate it. I'm sorry if that first email came off as aggressive. We've been offering a lot of freeroles (and free pick five's) this year, and are happy to give away the money but we have definitely seen some people really attempt to scam the system. Multi-accounting is something we take very seriously as it negatively affects all our players, and we're really focused on creating a great experience for all our players.

Since we saw the pattern we have been working on our fraud alerts. Right now the bulk of them come on a withdrawal attempt, but that clearly needs to change. This would have obviously been way easier if we asked you right up front when the accounts got created what was up. That's something we're going to work on.

Without deposits from different credit cards/paypal accounts we have no way to know if the accounts coming from the same IP address are in fact different individuals and as we've started to learn in about 95% of the cases they are not (especially when they're playing in all the same games with very similar lineups and entering in short timeframes). Looks like you're in that other 5% and I hate that we've created a bad experience for you. We'll absolutely work on ways to improve that, and please do get us those scans (or even just phone snapshots) of the ID's so we can get you your money.

Thanks, and sorry again,

Jeremy

As Jeremy mentioned above, the situation has been resolved well (he sent me a personal e-mail apologizing as well which I appreciate). They are working to make this work better. Best of luck to StarStreet in continuing to grow.
