starting Darren McFadden with confidence (1 Viewer)

I'm teetering between him and Fred Taylor for the flex. What makes you so confident this week? Why is THIS the week you've been waiting for?

With Bush perhaps suiting up you may wanna ice dem balls! I have more faith that my deceased grandmother will break more tackles.

right there with you. Starting him... of course it's between Forte and McFadden.. I have faith Oakland surprises.

I'm not starting him but grabbed him late as last resort RB depth. If he has a decent week, it's trade bait time.

He's ranked higher than Pierre Thomas and Cadillac Williams this week...I just don't trust him enough to give him the start over those two.

He may perform well this week, especially in PPR, but confidence? Confidence as your flex play? There is a difference between cajones and loco.

I'm giving him a week. I could change my mind, but I think I have safer options for now. If he were at home, I think I'd pull the trigger, but not on a 3 time zone, east bound road trip.

Starting him with confidence as my flex over Barber, TO & Gaffney.

Tenn is average at best against the rush.

Yes, and I was very lucky that my week #1 opponent based his lineup on this ranking. 18+ points for Pierre Thomas rotting on his bench, while he anxiously awaits the breakout of Darren McFadden this Sunday at Tennessee. I think he and anyone who starts McFadden as a flex this weekend will be disappointed. I could see him rushing for 40 yards and catching another 4 passes for 30 yards, and his TD probability at about .1 TD. If you have other options like TO, Gaffney, or Barber, remember where you drafted them, and where you drafted McFadden. I suggest a wait-and-see option with DMAC. Let him prove it to you.

McFadden has to know it's probably now or never for him in Oakland.
So he's been sandbagging all this time?Or maybe just didn't see his own pride and self-respect (or getting drafted high and being paid millions of dollars) as incentive enough?Or maybe despite being drafted higher and paid tons of money, Al Davis likes Bush better and has been instructing Cable to limit McFadden's touches in favor of Bush?Starting McFadden isn't a matter of having cajones. It's a matter of not having any better option. Starting him when you know Bush is active and healthy would be having some stones. THAT would be calling your shot.

Exactly, you got to wait and see what he can do before starting him, esp. if you have some decent options. I started P Thomas as well last night with DMC on my pine. I am not sure how much Purple Drank the staff had to have him ranked so high, but it did get me to spend 2 seconds thinking about it and then I snapped back into reality. I got Harrison, Caddy, Bradshaw and Ricky on my pine, and probably only start him over Ricky if I had to (Had to being the key words).

Looks like Bush will try to play but doubt he gets alot of carries

Michael Bush, RB, Oakland Raiders Friday 9/10, 11:22 AM CT

Michael Bush (thumb) was "running around" at Raiders practice on Friday morning, according to Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: He sat out on Thursday, but is looking likely to play on Sunday.

I am starting him, but definitely not with Confidence...

He is my RB3, and I have to start him over Beanie Wells at the moment.

The Titans are capable of being run past. Campbell will lift this offense from JaMarcus yet they'll still focus on running the football. Bush is going to limited - assuming he even plays.

I'm benching Greene vs. The Ravens in favor of Run DMC.

Wait and see. Starting him this week is a big risk. Just as much of a chance of 10-22-0 as 19-100-1 with this guy until he proves differently.

If Bush is declared inactive Sunday morning, I think he is a no-brainer start for those looking at a RB2 or flex position in a PPR.

I can start one out of McFadden/Portis/Buckhalter (Moreno is not 100%)...

I have Portis in there right now, but I did have to think on it a bit. A good day from DMC would not surprise me.

Hope you are right, and DMC busts out. Even if it costs me the week. But I'd personally go with Portis, if only to avoid the double aggravation of seeing your team lose if DMC stumbles, and insult to injury of losing your FF week. Also, Portis plays on Sunday Night, and I always like to have extra players on Sunday, (it's a superstition). It makes me feel like how ever far behind, I still got a chance.

I like the Sunday/Monday night guys too. But Dallas is tough to run on.For those who aren't aware, or for those who enjoy making fun of McFadden just for the sake of it, you need to realize that he is not in the same prehistoric offense he was stuck in the past two seasons. We now have a real, honest-to-goodness offensive coordinator in Hue Jackson. I am confident he'll be able to get the most out of DMC's abilities by getting him out in space. Oakland did not tip their hand too much in the preseason, sticking with very vanilla formations. Should be interesting to see what can be accomplished now that we have a bright offensive mind and a QB who is actually capable of throwing a swing pass.

I'm starting him in one of the flex positions in my Footballguys Players Championship league (1 PPR for RB, WR, QB, 1.5 PPR for TEs) with confidence...

...but only because Jermichael Finley is starting in the other flex position, and if necessary he will travel to Tennessee to carry McFadden on his back for over 200 yards and 4 TD's before heading back to Philly for his own game later that day.

despite my earlier post, I've put him in the flex. A starting RB with minimal competition is nearly always the right call over a WR.

Oh goodness... Now you went and made me rethink this. I had Marion Barber all lined up as my flex, and now I have to consider starting DMC. I don't like the Cowboys opponent, Redskins have a tough run defense. And the Cowboys have not shown that they can run at all this preaseason. Add in the Titans defense is below average, and the situation is there for DMC to get the ball a lot if the play-calling is as good as Hue Jackson, and maybe....Now I'm on the fence. :excited:

He is also healthy and rested. When McFadden is healthy, rested, and getting a lot of touches, he produces. Circa game 3 is when you should start to worry about him. I'm tired of arguing over it on these boards, but I would be surprised if he didn't produce at least as much as he did in the first games during his first two NFL seasons (before the double turf toe/knee injuries).

Gotta Choose DMC / Boldin / Hester / Gaff / Massaqui; I got McFadden in right now but if Bush is active I'll switch to Hester most likely

Starting Gore Bradshaw and McFadden with Foster on the bench.

Im also starting Britt too because im stubborn and made trades for these two players back in June because i just knew these guys were gonna be something the next 2-3 years.

Ummmm

Is Britt a flex? I can see foster doing well in a PPR league

I can appreciate the logic that this will be his best year ever.

With Jamarcus (fat boy ) Russell at QB, teams would stack the box and dare Russell to beat them with his arm. We all know Russell cant throw, so McFadden ran against a stacked box every time.

Campbell isnt a fearsome QB, but he is good enough to keep teams from stacking the box on every play.

Based on this alone, I'd expect McFadden to have a much more productive year.

However, I wouldnt go so far as to start him. I feel it would be prudent to start a more proven & established player for week 1 at least.

either way, I admire that you have the guts to start him. you are a braver man than I am.

Well, thought about it, and I decided to sub in McFadden for Barber. I went further and subbed in Eli for Romo. Don't want to watch that Sunday Night game I guess. :blackdot:

You're gonna start McFadden over Foster??? The same Foster going against a traditionally soft Indy run defense??? At home???Now that's gutsy!

starting mcfadden over knowshown and msw in ppr.

not starting him over bradshaw, sjax, or spiller in another ppr.

hedging bets

go raiduhs! the nfl is better when you guys are relevant

Bush inactive. Starting McFadden in two leagues and hoping he could really surprise this week. For those who have already written him off as a bum, let's remember he just turned 23 years old.

Would you start Mcfadden over Ricky Williams?
