Starting Your RB Against Your Own D/ST (1 Viewer)

would have loved to have both Ronnie Brown and Pitt Defense last nite. So, do not worry too much about it with solid players.

Exactly who I played against this week!! :wall: :wall: I thought for sure Brown & the Pitt D would cancel each other out. To a small degree, they did, but its just another example of playing your best individual players ... he ended up with a strong (in our league) 18pts from each position.

I own Caddy, and unfortunately he's facing my BAL D. Do you ever consider changing your D in these situations?
I used to think it sucks but when you think about it, the guy is gonna score against your D whther you start him or not. So you might as well get points for the TDs instead of only losing points against the D. If he's your starter, start him.

Not really true. There is a downside to starting a player against your own D/ST -- you limit the net upside of both players and your ability to score maximum points. Every time the player scores a TD, you lose points on your D/ST... so you limit your upside. Now what I will say is you should only do it if you really think you'll do better not starting the player. For instance, I'm starting the Pat's D and I'm starting D. Foster over W. McGahee because of it. I might not start Frank Gore over McGahee... Gore would lower my expected totals more than the McGahee/Patriots conflict lowers my total upside. All that being said, it really comes down to how your Defense scores points.

If you sit your best option, be it RB or D, for a lesser one, you also limit your upside.
