Stashing Peyton Hillis for Playoffs? (1 Viewer)

Any value in stashing PH for a potential return around week 14? I have an empty slot and can't decide if he is worth a shot or if I would be better off just stashing a defense with a quality matchup for those weeks now.

Hillis is already ruled out for week 11. Dude has missed 5 games and really think he will probably not be back as a Brown.

I think the only way Hillis plays again this year is if he's cut and another team picks him up. Can't see him playing for the Browns again. Even if he does play this year, his schedule is pretty brutal:

12: @Cin

13: Bal

14: @Pit

15: @AZ

16: @Bal

17: Pit

Holy ####. Brutal is an understatement!

Peyton Hillis, RB CLE

News: Browns coach Pat Shurmur said Thursday that RB Peyton Hillis (hamstring) could begin practicing as early as next week. Hillis has already been ruled out for Week 11 vs. Jacksonville. “He’s really attacking the rehab and keeping his strength up.” Shurmur added with a smirk, “I was never fast enough to pull a hamstring so I don’t know how it feels.”

Analysis: This is by no way a commitment from the Browns that Hillis will be ready to return in Week 12. Shurmur isn't putting a timetable on Hillis' return, but he does believe his starting RB will be back in 2011. Continue to stash Hillis in Fantasy leagues where you have ample reserve spots.

He got dropped, so I have him stashed for week 15. If I get week 15 out of him and he plays well, then 7 weeks of holding him will be worth it.

The long term problem is, even if he is ready to go week 14, how do you start him against Pittsburgh with no idea how much and how well he will play? I'd like to see him for at least 2 games before putting him in a playoff situation, much less against a good rush defense. Then again, sometimes the alternative suck worse.

This guy is a waste of roster space, i would dump him for a kicker at this point. If any team signs this joke next year they deserve what they get. Showed his true colors when he started whining about a contract. I have to give it to cleveland for staying true and not giving this bozo any $.

Jesus nevermind

Browns coach Pat Shurmur ruled out Peyton Hillis (hamstring) for Week 12 at his Monday press conference.

It's the third straight Monday Hillis has been ruled out, suggesting he isn't close to a return. Sunday will be the sixth consecutive game he's missed, and seventh of the season. He remains worth holding onto if you have an available roster spot, but with Montario Hardesty (calf) nearing a return and Chris Ogbonnaya coming on the past two weeks, Hillis won't be coming back to a workhorse role. How do they know what his role will be?

I have no idea what Browns will actually do. But the way Ogbonnaya has been producing I would think Hardesty or Hillis will have to earn their carries. Personally, I like Ogbonnaya better than Hardesty. I think Hillis offers a completely different skill set though and will still be useful if he could make it on to the field. But really next year, I think Ogbonnaya gets the start out of the gate. He actually looks talented to me. I don't know why.

And look where they are in the running game. they have sucked besides last 2 weeks. Hillis is what made the off. go last year. and without him this year they have not done a damn thing. So he wants a new contract. so do alot of rb's that have great years. IMO he was grossly underpaid. was he asking for too much maybe. dont know the exact numbers he wanted/browns offered.they would be stupid to just release him though. need to sign him to a fair contract. I do think his head got a little big after he got the madden cover. just showed all the love and support the browns fans have for him. they need players like him on that team. (last year)I drafted him and have kept him. i also have beanie/best/mcfadden. missed out on a few WW pickups. murray mainly darnit my rb are only avg 6.2 pts per week since week 3.If he does ( and hopefully) gets back on the field this year i think he will be a handfull for opp. def. he is going to run his ### off to prove himself to the browns and maybe his future team.*edit*cj2k whined held out. got his huge contact. is basically a deadbeat chump now. in my league cj has 93 pts and PH has 41. 10 games compared to 3.5 games for hillis.i think ph would not laid down like cj has.

I think this is more of a wishful thinking on your part. Now that Hardesty is back to being healthy and Ogbonnay's decent performance, Hillis will not be the workhorse that he was last year. Besides, I doubt he will comeback anytime soon to risk another injury. Hamstring injuries are tricky and you certainly do not want to keep tearing the same muscle. I think it's wise for him to heal completely before he does anything.

Ugly contract situation that got worse when hillis did not play weeks ago with an ailment of some kind and ended up leaving the complex. He had some kind of sickness or virus, like strep throat maybe?

It became worse when it was revealed hillis acted on his agent advising him not to play. This was revealed on sirius from Pat Kirwan.

He will never play in cleveland again. . .

If you have room on your roster he is worth a stash. However, I agree with the post above. Hillis, if he does return, will not be thrust into his previous 25 touch role.

As ugly as this situation has been- the browns HAVE to give him a good look in the last 3-4 weeks of the season. Attitude or not, right now he is still their commodity and they know him best. He produced big last year and they haven't forgotten that. It makes more sense for them to hypothetically sign him and draft a QB seeing as his value will be relatively low and because of this joke year he will probably be getting a "prove it " contract before the big payday he's seeking. I think its a lock that if you have any 2nd RB or flex issues into playoff time you have to buy this guy . Its the kind of move that can win your league if he's active into the final weeks even though the schedule is bad.

Could return to action week 13. Would be a nice stash for week 15Rotoworld

Peyton Hillis went through a "rigorous" workout Thursday as he continues to recover from his lingering hamstring.Hillis didn't practice, but did "extremely well" during the individual session and might be able to practice on a limited basis Friday. It sounds like Hillis is targeting Week 13 for his return. Barring setbacks -- which obviously is no guarantee considering Hillis' history and the nature of hamstring injuries -- he could emerge as a flex option late in the fantasy playoffs.

Peyton Hillis, RB CLE

News: Browns coach Pat Shurmur said Friday that RB Peyton Hillis made tremendous strides in practice and is now considered a game-time decision for Week 12 against Cincinnati, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Shurmur originally ruled Hills out for the game earlier this week, but was impressed by his progress Friday as he continues his return from a nagging Hamstring injury.

Analysis: Shurmur added Hillis is not expected to receive a full workload in Sunday's game, but his return to the field is an encouraging sign as he has not played since Oct. 16 against Oakland. Hillis has been a disappointing Fantasy contributor this season, racking up only 211 yards and two touchdown on 60 carries in four games. Fantasy owners should be wary about utilizing him this week as he returns from an injury and faces a Bengals defense that is yielding an average of 16.6 Fantasy points per game to opposing backs. Keep him reserved in Week 12.

Actually cincy might not be that bad of a matchup - it comes down to how much work they would give him.

I imagine if they feed him early and he looks good they will continue to feed him.

Peyton Hillis (hamstring, questionable) told reporters Friday that he is back to 100 percent and fully intends to play in Week 12.

The Browns' medical staff will determine in warmups Sunday whether Hillis is worth the risk, but he's obviously upbeat. "I'm excited I feel 100% again," he said. "It's looking very positive for this game."
