Steelers @ 49ers Game Thread (2 Viewers)

I'm surprised Gruden didn't say anything about the "tuck rule" on that fumble... He must have erased that out of his memory.

Ben simply can't get out of the pocket today. He's a statue back there, and that takes away the best part of his game. And the Steelers are going to lose the #1 seed because of it.#%#@!
They weren't winning this game with Charlie Batch/Dixon.
Honestly, I don't know about that. Probably not, but at least they could move. What I do know is that Ben has zero mobility so the defense rushes straight for a spot and they know Ben will be there.

The Niners defense looks like what Pittsburgh's defense used to look like.
You mean when they had Harrison and Woodley on the field at the same time?
No, I mean when they used to actually generate turnovers at important times during the game.
Aren't we almost saying the same thing? They haven't had the two both at full speed all year, and if Woodley reinjured the hammy, perhaps not until next year. I'm pretty sure a healthy pair of all-pro OLBs would lead to more turnovers, all else being equal.

I don't think we are. They haven't gotten many turnovers, at important points in the game or otherwise, the entire season.Turnovers in general have been few and far between for a defense that is predicated on creating them. That's what I was getting at.

For now. The_Man will tell you never to underestimate the Ravens ability to go on the road and lay an egg.
Yeah, but even then the Steelers would only be #3 most likely - New England is a game ahead and Houston holds the head-to-head tie-breaker.

Wonder if the Steelers will sit Ben next week. I think they should - even as a Wild Card, they are still a legit Super Bowl contender with him healthy. Without, not so much.

And I'm saying that many of those turnovers came off of pressuring the quarterback, predominantly with big plays by Harrison and Woodley. That tandem hasn't been on the field healthy at the same time all season. And if Woodley tweaked the hammy again, they won't be even come playoff time. Fair enough if you disagree. I'll quit now.

Anybody else see this niner team getting stomped in the playoffs with this smoke and mirrors offense?
the d will probably keep them close in most games.ETA: And what is smoke and mirrors about smashmouth offense? one of the more predictable o's going right now

I can tell you one thing. They should be sitting his #$@ right now. No reason to leave him in this game right now.

Probably should. He needs to get healthy within 3 weeks and they really should be able to beat St Louis at home with Hines Ward at QB.

Suspect offensive line, dead last I believe in red zone TD efficiency. Secondary has been exposed at times when the front 7 couldnt get to the QB. I see them getting beat but not demolished. Defense will keep them in games.

Yeah, not sure that D is good enough to slow down GB or NO. It really will depend on whether they can get pressure without blitzing like they are tonight. If so, then they have a decent shot.

At least he should start every play already down on one knee to save the body trauma from falling down from so high.

I need a 44 yard field goal (4.4 points)from Akers. Pretty please with sugar on top?

Starks may be the softest big dude I've ever seen. Smith is just ragdolling his jelly a@#$.

I realize this is nothing new, since he's always been a finesse guy even back to college, but it still blows my mind anyway. Guy is MASSIVE....and exerts almost no push/toughness at all.
