STEELERS FAITHFUL: WAVE THOSE TOWELS! (1 Viewer)

I don't get Hines Ward's schtick of mocking every opponent. He did the "Dirty Bird" yesterday after his first touchdown. He seems to mock his opponent in every PITT game I watch; that ain't cool. Call me a "hater" if you want but that is just not very sporting. And it makes it worse when you are on the road and enter the game 2-3.. :loco: . Congrats on your huge day HW; now you're 2-4. Time to start "celebrating" your TD's with a pep talk to your boys on defense.

What's really "funny" isn't so much the Steeler fans who still stand behind their team, but how many others feel the need to come in and rub every loss in the Steeler faithful's collective face. I guess this is the baclash that comes with being the World Champs, and if so, I'll take it.
Oh puh-leeze.
Puh-leeze nothing, it's true. I fly the Steeler flag no matter what, win or lose. It's just that in previous years, no one was waiting to stomp all over the Steelers every time they lost (except maybe BGP.) Since they won, there's a whole bastion of posters just waiting to talk **** every time the Steelers lose a game. I bet Pats fans will tell you the same thing.Someday, maybe, your Bengals will win it all, and then you'll know what I mean.
Right, it's the non-Steeler fans doing all the instigating and #### talking. Steeler fans aren't doing any of that.

The steelers problem is they have turnovers at the wrong times of games. This is the 2nd game, we have had a chance to blow the game wide open ,and we get a fumbled snap , Fumbled punt. The Bengals game ,couple of weeks ago ,was very similair to yesterday's game. Leading by 2 touchdowns ,then turnover's get the other team back in the game. I would not be surprised if the steelers run off 7 games in a row. We have dominated games ,yet allow the other team back in the game ,with unforced fumbles.

Instigating? Since when is starting a thread supporting the Steelers instigating? If there are Steeler fans jumping into other teams' threads and running smack non-stop, that's one thing. You're in here calling me out, find me a post of mine in the Pittsburgh/Kansas City game thread, or anywhere else for that matter, belittling the Chiefs after the Steelers victory last week. Find me a single post of mine bashing the Dolphins for getting beaten in the opener. For that matter, find me one post of mine rubbing the loss in the Seahawks' fans faces after the Super Bowl last year. The only people I got into it with were those insinuating that the refs "handed" the Steelers the game (most of whom weren't Seahawks fans, by the way). Ask the Denver or Indy fans if I let them have it in the playoffs last year, etc. etc....I'm proud of my team, and I'm not afraid to say it. I don't, however, look to degrade every other team in the league every time they lose a game. Yet, in this thread, there are dozens of posts mocking the Steelers for losing, and almost all of them are from fans of teams other than the Falcons. So, exactly how am I instigating here? I know you're talking about the Steeler fans in general here and not me specifially, but the majority of them are the same way. You don't see Steeler fans in every Bengal thread, or Patriots thread, or Seahwaks thread, bashing their teams week after week. It's backlash, plain and simple.

Indeed. Steelers are good enough to be at least 4-2 right now despite not playing their best ball until last weekend, but those bonehead plays are costing them games, and possibly will cost them a shot at defending the crown.

I didn't even realize the Bungholes had any fans until last year when they made the playoffs, it was always....:crickets:

Bandwagon Bunghole fans, as soon as they go back in the crapper, they'll go away again.

:goodposting: EG is one of most classy Steelers fans you will find. Some fans ( :hey: ) started talking smack to the Bengals fans after they lost to the then winless Bucs, but to my knowledge EG was not one of them. I know that I did because I was sick and tired of the Bengals fans getting their jollies every time the Steelers lost and not looking at how their own team had performed so far.I try to look at the facts and not wear any rose-colored glasses.Facts:* Steelers are 2-4 right now* All 4 of the losses have been to teams that are at least 3-3 right now* We outgained both CIN and ATL, but had more turnovers and lostMy opinions:* We can still make the playoffs, but it will be tough and will not be as a wild card team.* The AFC North will still come down to CIN or PIT.* CIN is struggling to score right now.* PIT is struggling to stop people right now.

We miss Randle EL as a punt returner ,but not as a WR. I like Santonio Holmes as WR ,but the guy should not be returning punts. I have not seen this many fumbles on Punt returns ever in steeler history. Bring back Louie Lipps

The one thing you forgot to add is CIN is 4-2 with a head-to-head win and the Steelers are 2-4. The Steelers aren't out of it yet but they're going to have to get on a roll AND get a lot of help by Bengals opponents.

I think you're going to see a different Cincy O next week. Totally different offense with Henry and Perry in there.

Steelers are not a dominant team this year. They need some breaks. So far the breaks are rolling the other way. They may get red hot late last year, but I wouldn't count on it. I look for 7-9 wins total, and no playoffs.

Doesn't mean they're a bad team. Every year there are a few good teams that just can't get it together and fall short. Not the steelers year this year.

I wasn't referring to you. So relax. And yes, there are plenty of Steelers fans who love to rub other teams' losses into their faces (bryhamm, SteelerMurf, Stillers jr, power monster). Hey, I enjoy the banter, but I just find your insinuation that Steeler fans are unfairly getting picked on around here is hilarious.

I'm very relaxed. I guess I don't see the instigating because I'm not a part of it. I try to keep my Steeler talk in Steeler threads (and Browns threads, just to annoy BGP,) so I only see those who come in here constantly posting garbage about Pittsburgh. I also never claimed they were "unfairly" picked on, just inordinately so, likely because they're the defending champs. I also said if that was the case, I'd take it, so no big deal.

Tell me that you wouldn't consider any other fan of a 2-3 team coming in and posting with "Vick's worst nightmare" in the title 'instigating'. The lack of humility is what gets on a lot of people's nerves. I don't have a problem with the posts, but don't get defensive when there's a backlash against it.

That kind of stuff doesn't bother me, no. Steelers' opponents fans can start threads every week talking about how they're going to stomp all over Pittsburgh and how they're "Ben's worst nightmare" or whatever. Faith in your team and talking them up before each game is part of being a fan, it's not a lack of humility.

And in cases like this, if Falcons fans popped in and hit the original poster with an owned smiley or something, it's warranted. The thing that irked me in the first place are the shmoes who are neither Pittsburgh or Atlanta fans who feel the need to come in here and make comments like "Steelers fans are really looking funny in this thread....." I think people who are fans of neither team who show up just to pick on the Steelers look a lot funnier than Steeler fans prognosticating victory, but that's just me.

Easy there trigger. I rarely "love to rub other teams' losses into their faces", but did so with the Bengals loss to the Bucs and explained why I did. Normally I simply point out when the Steelers play well (against the Chiefs), play like crap (against the Jags) and play good but screw up and end up losing (against both Cincy and Atl).

Yeah, I don't know, you always seemed pretty level-headed to me. I don't know if I missed something or not, but actually, I don't care - you said nice things about me earlier, so you're OK in my book regardless. :D

Im predicting we will finish 10-6 and win the division. The bengals and Ravens in my opinion are just not the type of teams that can play consistent football through a season. They seem like they will be win one, lose one type teams. Steelers are a streaky team, and i think they will get on one of those 5 to 7 game streaks. The offense is really beginning to click now.

Since they won, there's a whole bastion of posters just waiting to talk **** every time the Steelers lose a game. I bet Pats fans will tell you the same thing.
Pats fan here... and you're right. But EvilGrin, in defense of Shuke (can't believe I'm saying that), there are several Steelers posters in here who are quite arrogant. The same can be said for any team (Pats included) but don't put your head in the sand thinking Steelers fans in here don't talk ****; they do.

You just can't turn the ball over that many times and expect to win. I don't know what the answer is for kick/punt returns but it clearly is not Santonio -- he's a proven fumbler. Props to ATL -- Vick really stepped up. And laugh all you want, haters. The Towel stays flying, and the fans will stay passionate, win or lose. :towelwave:
To wave them after a loss is not "passionate". I would say a better word would be "delusional", perhaps "denial" would work as well. You bragged, you lost, take you lumps this week.

That's probably true - Roethlisberger was last heard saying "I'm Batman!"

:goodposting: and I agree that every team has fans like this. It's just more evident right now with Steeler fans because they are the defending champs. But the same threads will be started next year from the fans of whoever wins the superbowl this year. I just love how people always try to differentiate between fans of certain teams....i.e. Philly fans are the most violent, steelers fans are the most arrogant, etc... You just can't stereotype a whole city's fanbase based on what you see on an internet message board.

This whole thread was steeler fans bragging about having a better team than the Falcons until it didn't happen.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ................Can you believe Cowher crying about the "flinch" which was more of a complete step forward to get to the line of scrimmage? Hey Cowher... newsflash .... the game should have been over earlier when the officials "allowed" your time out when it was clearly after the made field goal snap.

As I said on Saturday ..... The Steeler :bag: defense would get RUN THROUGH and that is EXACTLY what happened. That's why they call me "The Professor"! :goodposting:
They did, but I hope you realize that Atlanta got about 130 of their yards after Casey Hampton left with a hamstring injury. Before he got hurt, Atlanta was having very little success on the ground.Congrats to the Falcons fans. The Steelers' offense didn't deserve to lose yesterday just like the defense didn't deserve to lose a couple games earlier in the year. The common theme through all of the losses is that the special teams are a major, major concern.

I'll take that to mean that you don't have one for my bragging (have fun if you really want to go look, it doesn't exist.) I'm still going to be a fan on the weeks they lose. Sorry if you don't like that -- Actually, I'm not. You can call that "delusional". I call anything else "fairweather".

Both Cowher and Rooney made an issue out of that call, and they need to shut up and move on. I gave Seahawks and Mike Holmgren grief about acting like crybabies after the SB, and our coaching staff and owners should be held to the same standard. We lost this game becaue of atrocious ST play and a porous D, not because of a flag that was thrown.

I don't think that he needs it, but I would like to represent ACP in a much more positive light. He is a Steeler fan who keeps things in a proper perspective, while injecting a somewhat demented abstract sense of humor. I always enjoy his musings on all subjects. We certainly don't like the same teams, but this post is another example of how he is consistent in his opinions. I believe that he went to the Georgia Dome to watch his team play yeasterday only to return to this crap.Get over it people, the Steelers like all teams have fans on this message board that make being a fan of that team difficult. As a Seahawk fan, I recognize ACP as one of the most humorous posters in the Shark Pool.

Agreed. You could argue it was ticky tacky and seldom called in the final few seconds but Washington clearly did move before the snap and that is a penalty. And even if they didn't drop the flag it is not like Skippy is automatic from 51 yards. No whining allowed. What Cowher should really be upset about is yet another taunting call after a Steelers TD. You would think that after the first one of the season Cowher would have made it clear that these types of celebration would not be tolerated. This is third one of the season and if I were Cowher it would be a $15K fine for the next Steeler player that draws this type of flag. The Steelers are shooting themselves in the foot so much I am surprised there are any toes left on the team.

This is not the same team as last year. The Steelers just don't start off this slow. They've dug themselves a very big hole and I'm getting nervous that they may not even finish .500. I think at this point they can't think about playoffs. They have to take it one game at a time and just pray for some help along the way. With that said, Oakland should be just what the doctor ordered......

Classy response.

:lmao: if you guys are taking any of this seriously.

Maybe so... I just don't usually see it. The only thing I see that can be construed as such is nightshift's rabid pimping, but I never saw that as smack-talking, he just loves to pump up the Steelers, as do most of the Steeler fans I know. Perhaps there's baiting going on, I just haven't seen it. I tend to stay in the Steelers threads, so I see the attacking coming this way... if I'm wrong, so be it.

Nobody should be complaining about the call on Nate Washington's "flinch" as it was clearly a penalty. to anyone who does complain about it.

I don't know what the f Cowher or Rooney were looking at but he clearly took his front foot and moved it up toward the line. That's a :penalty:

Agreed. What is funny is if he just stays put, it ends up being an illegal formation penalty which does not result in a 10 second runoff (see SEA vs STL). Granted they would have been backed up, making it a harder kick for Reed, but at least he would have had a chance.
