STEELERS (1 Viewer)

It looked bleak sitting in my seat next to my brother , our team losing at half time at Heinz field. We met up with my old man and his long time friend, and we didnt give up hope. The Steelers came back and won the game 38-31 in an offensive jostle of a game. The Steelers defense was really shaky, losing polamalu, but held on just enough for the W. With the next games being 2 meetings with the browns, and ravens, a carolina game, and tampa and cinci, it appears that if they win out a playoff berth is within reach. Im behind my team because Im a die hard fan... What do you think?

Joined today huh? Guaranteed this guy is a Steeler hater (my guess is he's The Scientist's alias)

I'll give you the Browns game and the Bucs game.... Maybe a chance to beat Baltimore... But, unless the Steelers can fill the holes in the Defense they will only get 2 more wins... maybe 3... Thats not being a hater or anything thats just the truth..... As a fantasy Steeler D owner I hope they patch it up.... But, thats gonna be tough.... They arent playing with the heart they had last year on defense.... Or, maybe everyone in the league has just figured them out.... Even when most of them were healthy, they were giving a good effort for a half then falling apart.

I definately agree. The only way I can describe the Steelers this year, is Sucky. We sucked for the first half of the season. Some other fans tell me "we didnt suck we played well but lost" I say, no, we sucked, if we didnt suck we wouldnt have lost, its that simple. The offense was falling apart. Ben was making dumb mistakes. The Special teams has played like the ######ed kids in gym class, fumbling and bumbling our season away. The defense has been riddled with injuries, and has played some spirited games (holding Oakland to under 100 offensive yards all game) and still losing because of the poor play of the team. But I believe that the neccessary changes have been made, and that the team could finish out the season strong. Baltimore will be the real test for us.

Yeah but one obnoxious steeler fan does not change the fact that you're still obnoxious.....

Call us obnoxious, but how many Lombardi Throphies does your bull#### team have? Show some respect son. We're great fans of a great franchise.

Anyone who says the Steelers have sucked either hasn't watched the games, seen highlights or final scores, or knows nothing about football.

TURNOVERS ARE WHY THEY ARE 3-6

They are 3-6 with the most turnovers (24 i think?) and worst turnover ratio in the NFL

Cut their TO's in half to 12, and they are AT LEAST 7-2. Turnovers were the biggest and maybe even only reason they lost to the Bengals, Falcons, Broncos, and Raiders.

The only games you really can't argue TO's because they just got plain outplayed were the Jacksonville and San Diego games.

They won last week because they didn't turn the ball over....If they keep the trend going, or just start winning the turnover ratio, they could most definitely win out. The only tough games really are Baltimore twice and Carolina. Baltimore can't put points up like the Steelers so I think thats a better matchup, but Carolina looms largest and hardest because of their passing game and that's where the Steelers D has been breaking lately.

Steelers could win out pretty easily if they take care of the ball, but still not make the playoffs

Playoffs depend on one thing - Baltimore. Since they already lost to Jacksonville and San Diego, wild card isn't going to happen. They Steelers need to beat Baltimore both times, and then have the Ravens lose at least 2 other games (depending on how many the Steelers win). This isn't too far of a longshot as they play ATL this week and still have to play @ Cincy, and @ KC (in december mind you).

But first thing first, Stillers gotta win

I got news for you but turnovers are a huge part of the game and given the parity in the NFL is what really distinguishes good teams from bad teams. The Steelers don't suck but they're not a good team (borderline bad team). How can you even think that they will win out after what you've seen so far? In my mind, the NO win was an anomaly. They didn't turn the ball over and still barely won the game. The defense can't pressure the qb and can't stop anyone on 3rd down. And to make the playoffs, the key is the wildcard (not the division). They are 4 games back of Balt with 7 to play. They're not catching Baltimore......Sorry man--I want the Steelers to do well but it isn't happening this year.

That was my whole point! Im not saying they are, nor do I think they are, but if they start winning the turnover ratio and turning the ball over less (which has a lot to do with Roeth), they could easily win out. I dont know how you can say they aren't a good team, they won the superbowl last year with nearly the same roster. They've been a good team PLAYING BAD this year. Why do you think vegas had a 2-win team favored against the Broncos and the Saints, 2 teams with 6 wins? Its because if the Steelers win the turnover ratio, they're nearly impossible to beat.

Chief Here.

Turnovers are a barometer of a good team. Good teams do not turn the ball over. Bad teams do. If we can limit turnovers, we take pressure off of our already struggling defense. So, really if we address our TO problem, we improve our bad team. That said, I think our defense has demonstrated a weakness in defending the pass and until we address that, we will be mid-grade at best.

:goodposting: But give the new guy a break. Welcome, Iron Mike...
Well I wish I shared some of the optimism that these guys have but I honestly don't think the Steelers are even remotely good enough to win out given their schedule. Honestly, I would be happy if they finish .500 (that would indicate a strong finish in my mind). They may have a similar team from last year but they are just not performing this year. Perhaps they overperformed last year or perhaps they're underperforming this year. Whatever it is, I don't see that will and determination that I saw last year. That win against the Saints was nice but it really didn't change my perception about this team. They have only put together one overall strong performance all year in their win against KC. I really hope I'm wrong about this.......

I actually think that if the D can get back to their early season form that the Steelers can go on a roll. The offense is looking good moving the ball and just needs to eliminate turnovers (which they did last week). I'm not predicting that they will win out, but I wouldn't be shocked if they were able to pull it off.

I stated in my last thread that I am indeed delusional and I dont expect people to have the same optimism. Nor do I expect the Steelers to make the playoffs as the odds are heavily against them. But as long as theres hope, Im going to keep on hoping. They proved a couple people wrong last year and heres to them doing the same this year :banned: :loco:

Seriously. The Scientool has the "Steeler thread troll king" title locked up for the near future but you're certainly making a case for yourself.
