Stepfan Taylor - AZ Rb (1 Viewer)

Pretty impressive clip of Taylor. I love the guy's leg drive, and while he lacks that dynamic quality of Ellington, he does so many things well, it would still not surprise me if we see his role grow, even with the return of Mendenhall.

I have given up on him because Ellington looks like a star; but I could see Taylor taking on the short yardage role as a backup to Ellington.

Rotoworld:

Cardinals GM Steve Keim talked up second-year RB Stepfan Taylor at the Combine as a potential "complement" to Andre Ellington in 2014.

Keim says he has "high expectations" for Taylor, who underwhelmed as a rookie with a 3.19 YPC average and eight receptions behind Ellington and Rashard Mendenhall. As Mendenhall is now a free agent, Taylor could take his old spot as a short-yardage back and committee partner. If this is all Ellington has to hold off for 2014 backfield work, it'd be ideal news for his fantasy outlook.

If he is on the wire is he worth a flyer in dynasties?
I have him cuffed to Ellington, he isn't going anywhere. Non Ellington owners...depends on the league. Even with a full time job he is just a notch over JAG status.

I'm probably gonna wait to see what Arizona does. If they bring back Mendy and/or use a high pick on a back, I'll probably let Taylor go.

If they cut Mendy and don't make any significant investment at the RB position, I think he's worth hanging onto.

He didn't show enough in the preseason/regular season to justify a roster spot in shallow leagues as a 5th rounder with bad opportunity.

So I'll probably only keep him around if there are some signs that AZ likes him.

I've got him hanging around in one deep league, but he's likely the first to go to make room for incoming rookies / K / defense next year. Even if he has opportunity, the o-line there is a dumpster fire and Taylor isn't good enough to get more than what's blocked, which likely won't be much. Ellington is more dynamic and will be the guy with most of the (limited in Arians' offense) RB receptions.

o line gets Cooper back.

True, but they need a lot more help than one guy will be able to provide IMO. I watched a few AZ games last year and they were as bad as any line I've ever seen in pro football -- and that means something coming from a Steelers homer LOL.

deep draft at ot, add rg in free agency, blanking on his name - center is far from great but he does one necessary thing well - make the line calls. There's a template to work from.

Well, this fringe NFL talent might be up to bat for a significant role in the coming weeks, bc it looks like Ellington is out for "an extended" period of time with his foot injury. Very vague. What are thoughts on this? Dwyer is no world beater. Taylor should have a role, no?

I would think Dwyer has the bigger role. Taylor is bad.

I agree, but I picked up Taylor just in case as dwyer was already taken.

It's very likely that both are bad.

I liked him at Stanford, but he has been a total plodder in his limited preseason and regular season carries. He'd have to break that pattern to achieve any significant relevance. Anyone who stands to get double digit touches is at least worth an end of the bench spot in deep leagues though.
