‘7th Heaven’ dad Stephen Collins confesses to child molestation on tapeStephen Collins played the kindly pastor and father on the TV series “7th Heaven.” Now, an investigation is underway involving his self-admitted sexual contact with little girls as young as 11-years-old.

TMZ is reporting that it’s all on audio they’ve obtained on which Collins specifically details his encounters with several underage children.

His confession happened during therapy sessions with his wife, from whom he is currently going through a divorce.

NYPD says even though it’s been decades since the alleged molestations, they believe the case can still be prosecuted because the statute of limitations runs from the date of reporting of the crime which was 2012.

In California you’re allowed to secretly record conversations to gather evidence against a person who committed a violent felony, molesting a child under the age of 14-years-old qualifies.

No comment from Collins’ reps.

Not going to Heaven :o

You're allowed to secretly record your therapy sessions and use it in court? That's seriously messed up.

Yeah, much more messed up than molesting little girls
It's not more messed up than molesting of course, but I'm shocked about the breach of confidentiality. We'll see whether it's usable in court.

I'm interested about what this "Disclosure" was that he signed before this session that he keeps referring to. This sounds like there had been prior discussions about his molestation before this one, so I'm wondering what those entailed.

Awfully presumptuous on multiple levels...
My brother's a youth pastor. I haven't spoken with him about this but someone in his position has to be pissed off about this because of Collins' close identification with pastors via the 7th Heaven show. It's not like he's an actual representative of the clergy and yet their rep takes a hit through this story.

Dude's always looked creepy.
Really?

Steve Buschemi looks creepy. This guy's always looked like the stereotypical clean cut milquetoast Evangelical Christian white guy to me (influenced no doubt by the role he played). I never read him for a molester, but then predators are experts at hiding.

Anyone else remember the TV show from the early 80s (just one season) called "Tales of the Gold Monkey?" I loved that show.

Collins and his wife are going through a divorce. I suspect that the wife released the secretly recorded tapes to help her settlement.

Will never understand 1) how one would do this, and 2) that they would risk everything to get it. I realize these people are crazy, but still. How does an adult male get to a point where sexual gratification from a 10 year old girl becomes the ultimate driving force? Has to be childhood trauma of some kind, no?

Well, yeah. He apparently copped to this in private, and they engaged in a form of family therapy in joint counseling sessions, presumably so he could assure her that he was not a danger to their daughter, but she snuck in a recording device.

As for your question, more and more it looks like a form of sexual orientation, more similar to being "gay" or "straight" than anything else. In a way that makes it an even more difficult problem legally as there's not as much "fault" involved in the traditional sense as there would be if it was a simple choice.

I always thought it strange that he was the one who wanted to touch V'Ger.

Of course, the Grumman Goose he flew was the real star of that show.
I pulled the cast up on IMDB. This guy (RIP) we all remember from Magnum and the Tales, but holy cow, what a resume, like 5 of my favorite shows of all time. Too bad he didn't make an A-Team appearance or he would have swept.:

Being gay or straight is like a mental disorder? Way to go Ace.

Did you even bother to read what he wrote? He said orientation not disorder. Don't know if it's true but I've read the same thing before. That's why he said it could cause a problem legally.

Yeah the fake pastor who turns out to be a molester is the real problem.

I'm very interested in seeing if pedophilia becomes classified as an orientation in the future. This is the same slippery slope that has been predicted by anti-gay groups.

No more a problem legally than necrophilia, I'd surmise
