Luke Heimlich--College pitcher and child molester (1 Viewer)

Don’t know if he is guilty or not or whatever. But everybody always says they would never take a plea until they are staring down the barrel of 30 years.
Especially when the government has unlimited funds with which to prosecute you and you have limited funds with which to defend yourself.

That's a really good point.  How many attorneys who know their client is innocent tell them not to risk a max term? Lots of innocent people locked up for decades. You can talk about principle all you want but some hard choices here. Now child molestation is a whole different story.  Branded for life.  I personally would never accept a plea deal like that

Of course, he was not expecting to be branded at all since it was sealed.

He also was looking at a juvenile prosecution with a max sentence of less than 18 months in a juvenile center.

Taking the deal here is far removed from 18 and life to go.
