Steve Smith Phi (1 Viewer)

Worth a pickup IMO unless you have shallow benches. He's a good ppr player, though obviously balls may be tough to come by.

The MOP gut says rough waters ahead for DeSean Jackson and owners. I predict in 2012 the WR corp might look more like this...

WR1-Maclin

WR2-S.Smith

WR3-J.Avant

Not sure I see Jackson staying in Philly or the team tying up huge dollars in him. I believe Maclin has all the tools to be a top 10-12 WR and be a force as the WR1 on tho team. As long as he can anchor and Smith comes back and can be the hands guy, maybe Avant can be a permanent fixture and also not have such a heavy price tag. They can't pay them all big bucks and next year I would think Maclin's 2nd deal will have to get done.

Just my opinion.

I'm curious about when Smith is expected to return. I've heard he's practicing with the 1st-team. I was under the impression he might even be placed on the PUP list and out for the first 6 games so I'm a bit surprised.

With Maclin questionable (who really knows what shape he's in), there could be an opening for Smith to get some touches.

I imagine he's on the WW in a lot of shallower leagues. Wondering if he's worth looking at now (and if he'll be on the WW for long)?

Philly fans have any updates/opinions?

Im betting the 2012 WR corps looks something like this:WR1-G.Little

WR2-S.Smith

WR3-2012 1st round rookie WR pick..?/Robiskie

thank you Mr Smith for heading to PHI where CLE has a great connection. Either way PHI will pay DJax; hes too valuable on their special teams and is the best WR on their roster. Maclin is great, but with Avant they really dont need Smith. Next year will be tough for PHI and they will be making tough choices but losing Jackson will not/should not be one of them! Last years game where he single handidly won the game on the last minute TD return will still be fresh in their minds. As a Browns homer I was hoping theyd go after Smith this year knowing his value in the longrun and that he fits a need for our future not just 2011

Smith is a guy I targetted in a dynasty league specifically for next year. He went around the same spot as a lot of the mediocre rookie WRs, who also won't be giving you much in 2011. Smith is on a one-year contract and can pick his situation next year, and clearly is a strong PPR option for 2012, 1.5 seasons out from his surgery.

I'm interested in this. If he's taking reps with the first team, that leads me to believe he's going to be playing in game one. He's on our wire too. hmmm

Alright, I have an extra space on the end. I'll drop Addai's backup now that Manning has went down and decreased his importance, so I can pickup Smith. If Smith's the guy he was before the injury, I'm sold. He's a solid receiver. I'm doing it.

Kind of funny. I drafted both SSmith and Delone Carter in both my leagues. Ive held onto Carter and dropped Smith in both.I dont see a WR3 in Philly being worthwhile. DJax will get his, once Maclin gets healthy, the same, McCoy gets a ton of touches and Vick runs.Smith wont do #### unless DJax gets hurt.

I've got some room to work with due to having a lot of rbs on my roster. Dropping a backup when I already have some backups, to try and hit on a wr, a position where I'm very thin at, is a good gamble for me.

DeSean only caught 47 balls last year and Smith is taking 1st team reps...writing is on the wall.
I'm not seeing the same writing.
Me either. DeSean is the speedy deep threat, Smith a possession reciever. If anything, I think the Smith signing was more due to the uncertainty of Maclin then anything to do with DeSean. I expect Smith to be gone at years end unless they are looking to replace Avant.
