Steve Smith week 11 status? (1 Viewer)

Not a homer but I would say it goes like this:

Smith: 'Hey coach, how's Carr looking as far as starting this week'?

Coach: 'He's good to go'.

Smith: 'Well my shin isn't, see ya next week with the same question'.

:hot:  :bag:
It's funny because it's true.
No doubt. I traded him in one league for Branch and benched Smith in another league indefinitely. I haven't seen a bust this big since Anna Nicole Smith.

From what I've heard, his shin is just really sore. He didn't practice again today, and will be questionable for the game. My guess is that he will play. Vinny will be the QB Sunday.

In the past three weeks in my league (standard scoring), he's put up 1, 1, and 4 fantasy points, respectively. It doesn't seem to matter much whether he plays or not. :hot:

Fox names Testaverde the starter

STAN OLSON

Carolina Panthers coach John Fox named Vinny Testaverde as his starting quarterback Sunday at Green Bay following today's practice. But it's possible that Testaverde might not have Carolina's top wide receiver to throw to.

Steve Smith missed his third straight practice with a sore shin. He was listed as questionable on the team injury report.

"It'll be a game-time decision, day to day," coach John Fox said of Smith. "It's still sore."

Fox said the injury occurred during last week's game with Atlanta.

"It was something that I'm not sure he understood how bad it felt until after the game," Fox said.

Testaverde and quarterback David Carr have practiced fully this week, but after practice Fox said, "Our starter will be Vinny Testaverde."

Testaverde had been bothered by Achilles' tendonitis that still caused him some pain against the Falcons, but said Thursday that this week had been much better than last.

"He had a good week of practice, he was able to get through the week in practice," Fox said. "I think that's good for him, good for us. I couldn't say the same last week."

Asked if that meant Testaverde would be the starter going forward, Fox said, "Right now I'm not into naming guys for the season, because a lot can happen week to week. So I'll just say he's our starting quarterback Sunday."

Defensive tackle Damione Lewis (shoulder strain) was also listed as questionable on the team's injury report, but Lewis practiced. Listed as probable were running back DeShaun Foster (turf toe), safety Deke Cooper (shoulder) and cornerback Ken Lucas (hip pointer). All three practiced.

As bad as Joey must feel for losing his job to Leftwich, despite decent performance, how bad must it feel to David Carr, losing out the starting job to Testa-freakin-verde?

End
