what type of individual numbers would justify it? I guess being a big part of a 9-1 D just doesnt cut it.
I don't understand this comment. Everyone on the Packer D should have been taken top 5 since they are a part of a team that is 9-1? I guess that makes everyone on the Patriots a player who should have been drafted #1 cause they are a part of a 10-0 team. Please explain why a guy on a 9-1 team is automatically a justified high pick than a guy on a team that stinks.what type of individual numbers would justify it? I guess being a big part of a 9-1 D just doesnt cut it.
Im saying what do you want from the guy? He is doing his part to make the D very strong. Would you be happier if he put up great numbers and the D cant keep the team in the game?I don't understand this comment. Hawk went 5th overall. Ernie Sims went 9th overall. Both play the same position. They are the only 2 LBs drafted in the top-10 since Lavar Arrington in 2000. So, it seems like a perfectly good comparison. Here are their career stats so far:Hawk: 26 games, 134 solos, 52 assists, 3.5 sacks, 10 passes defensed, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumblesSims: 26 games, 148 solos, 68 assists, 1.5 sacks, 2 passes defensed, 1 interception, 2 forced fumblesSims with the edge in raw tackles, while Hawk has a pretty significant edge in big plays with more sacks, more interceptions, and more passes defensed.there are plenty of players who don't live up to their draft position every year at every position. Hawk may not be a superstar yet, but it's still just his 2nd year and he's performing pretty well so there's no reason to think he won't develop into one of the league's best OLBs.
You still waiting on Leinart as well? GL with that.LHUCKS said:
Not to mention the porn industry...A.J. Hawk just happens to have a cool sounding football name. That in itself makes him look better than he really is.If there were a linebacker named J.T. Steel you can bet scouts and NFL teams would be all over his nutz too.
