Stopping spam texts (1 Viewer)

Beyond frustrated. Bought our 11 yr old son his first phone. Immediately when I activated it I noticed 26 text messages. Thought that was weird. They were all spam and all SMS. Since then he's got 5 or so a day. Most of them are sent to someone named Rafael. I figured this was because he had a new number so I registered the # on the do not call list but not much has changed in a week. Anything else I can do?

I almost never get spam texts on my phone.

Most phones have a block caller/text feature.  Works great for me.

Maybe get a new number from Google voice and use that as the primary text number?

Random spam texts from local political candidates have been getting through my Verizon text spam blocker in the past couple weeks.

I get them all the time, and they call me Betty in them. (Narrator: That's not really his name).  

They come from different numbers each time, so while I blacklist the number each time, it doesn't keep new ones from coming in. Just have to keep blacklisting. Very annoying. 

They seemed to have slowed down recently though, so hopefully they are running out of numbers to text me from. 

Betty's apparently got about 75 free iPhone 11s waiting for her though, whoever she is.  (Narrator: She doesn't).

Most cells have a block number feature. I just block the numbers. Sometimes I'll call the number if I get a person I mess with them for like 5-10 mins and they hang up. They usually stop spamming me after that. Sometimes I pretend I'm the FBI and tell them they are being recorded too if they figure out a way to filter or use another number. That or I'll call them and start blasting death metal in their ear.

I get those constantly near local/State and National elections. Most of them are for my mom but I just tell them they got the wrong number. Because I'm so sick of my party I'll text them something about the party too so they know I'm serious as well.
