I agree. I recently read somewhere (forget where) that he is looking to redo his contract. I would think this is about the money.I would be surprised at this considering he is going/went through an expensive divorce. I figured he would need the money.
Not likely. They've worked Kiwanuka at OLB all offseason in preparation for the year. The job is Tuck's if Strahan does retire.I guess Kiwanuka moves back to DE in this case.
Or maybe the divorce is a reason to retire if she gets a percentage of his salary.I would be surprised at this considering he is going/went through an expensive divorce. I figured he would need the money.
WFAN is reporting this also; Strahan's agent called the Giants with this yesterday.....so, it is not just a rumor...though could still be a ploycaught just the tail end on strahan, up giants gm is on wfan now and confirmed the call.Just announced (no link) - Strahan is considering retiring
Maybe, if Tuck is healthy. The move to LB might have just been temporary anyway until Strahan retires for real since Kiwanuka is a more natural fit at DE. Even when Tuck is healthy, Kiwanuka is probably better. It mainly depends on who else can play LB, though. Anyway, as I mentioned above, I think Strahan is just looking for more money right now. I wouldn't be surprised if he is tired of Coughlin, though, but his divorce has been public and expensive, so it's no secret that he wants more money. Not likely. I thought she would get money from previously earned money (while they were married), but not from new money. I don't know the details, so it's just speculation.Or maybe the divorce is a reason to retire if she gets a percentage of his salary.I would be surprised at this considering he is going/went through an expensive divorce. FBG is one of the few websites not blocked while I am at work, oddly enough. No radio either, so I am definitely interested in any updates/details.Reese is on the radio right now talking about it....
Nothing earth shattering...On Strahan - last night agent called and said Strahan is thinking of retiring. Francessa said that he thought it was a negotiating ploy and Reese didn't disagree but wished Stra the best if he does retire (you could tell he didn't believe it though).on Tiki- hard guy to replace, happy with their stable of backs, it may take all 4 of their backs to replace what Tiki brought but he feels they can handle iton Petitgout - wouldn't address the fact that he trashed him yesterday but he's happy with his left tackle position and feels Diehl can fill in well.on Eli - 3rd year, expects the game to slow down and become more consistent. Said he has an undue amount of pressure on him due to being a Manning, in NY and a #1 draft pick. They're happy with his development, has had 48 tds' last 2 years. on Coughlin - supports him, included him in all offseason moves and he's happy with them.on offseason - people have criticized lack of activity, made some moves at FA's but they were too expensive, feels they've done enough to be a good team.Overall mostly boiler plate answers and nothing really earth shatteringFBG is one of the few websites not blocked while I am at work, oddly enough. No thanks to Accorsi. I don't think Reese is off to a good start, but people have to remember that he is just a continuation of Accorsi's reign. Reese has been Accorsi's main man for years and has been behind such gems as the Manning trade. I think the Giants will be mediocre this year, not one of the worst but I would be surprised if they made the playoffs. I don't like the long term direction, though, and they seem to be getting worse every year. Implode is too harsh, though, IMO. Mediocre is a better way to describe them. 3rd place in NFC East since PHI and DAL are 2 of the best teams in the NFC.Accorsi picked the perfect time to walk away...Giants are going to implode this year.
He has the worst pre-nup in all of history. She gets half of their assets as a couple. PLUS, she gets half of everything he earned while they were married. So, if he made $6 mil two years ago, for example, she'd get $3 mil and then she'd get half of whatever he spent his $3 mil on.In effect, she got 75% of whatever they have.Or maybe the divorce is a reason to retire if she gets a percentage of his salary.I would be surprised at this considering he is going/went through an expensive divorce. I figured he would need the money.
I agree with this. It looks like their window of opportunity closed a year or so ago and are headed into rebuilding mode. I don't really know what the identity of the team is though. No thanks to Accorsi. Hopefully it will all change next year when Coughlin is fired (strong possibility) and ownership realizes that Reese isn't the answer either (long shot given how loyal they tend to be). At least a change of coaches should help a lot, but I have been thinking for years now that the front office needs an enema as well.I agree with this. IIRC He got a HUGE signing bonus. He is "only" making 4 mil this year which by itself translates into him being quite underpaid.Including the signing bonus(as the Giants spread it out over years) and he makes a very nice salary. There's 2 sides here and whether the signing bonus is for the whole contract or just a high initial payment(a bonus) seems to be the root of it all.As was said, I don't think he'd do it because of the divorce but as was said on the radio, if he is NOT a member of the Giants making a sweet salary, well then his alimony payment gets chopped big time. There seems to be alot to thisI agree. That's the first thing I thought: he wants to go out like Tiki Barber ---- saying what a tremendous guy and leader he was, and landing a TV job.they mentioned this afternoon that he may have a TV deal in the works.
I can definitely understand his thinking.Losing our best offensive player and best defensive player (aside from maybe Pierce) in the same off-season sucks.Last night John Clayton said that Strahan spent 2 weeks on vacation thinking it over, and concluded that the Giants aren't really doing what it takes to be compeitive any more, so he's leaning towards retiring.

Has anyone given any thought to that maybe he does not want to deal with Tom Coughlin and his asinine rules? Different color socks - that is a $1000 fine.I think it was rules like this that drove Tiki to retire early also.
imho Strahan is a bigger D-Bag than Barry Sanders. At least Barry let the Lions know PRIOR to the preseason (I think he was a hosebag for not voluntarily giving back his signing bonus - which the courts made him pay back a portion of each year he was retired until his contract expired).I think Strahan is trying to get media coverage like Roger Clemens - will he or won't he come back? The difference is Clemens was NOT under contract like Strahan is.He's a HUGE D-bag if you ask me. But seeing as Coughlin is the coach and it's for a NY team, it's OK with me.Why aren't there 3 pages dicussing what a jerk he is and how he's bending over all of his teammates with this stuff? That was the stance on Barry Sanders and Ricky Williams, right? Or is that only reserved for offensive players that are worth something in fantasy football?
I just can't see the Giants releasing him....Strahan wants to be released. I really think he is going to end up in Green Bay when all is said and done. The Pack has alot of depth at CB and DT and safetyMarquand Manual might very well be on the block. Lastly the Packers have the available cap room.
I agreeD, but camp has been over for a while now.C'mon, people, this is a classic veteran ploy. He obviously just wanted to avoid Coughlin's training camp. What with all his marital woes, the last thing he needs is another summer getting shouted at.
