Strategy for trading players/picks (1 Viewer)

I need help understanding how to value player/pick combination trades. For example if trading a #1 WR for a #2, what pick would you expect to recieve when giving up a #1 and what pick would you have to give up if having to trade equal number of picks. How do I value and what is your theory on analyzing these types of trades?

Thanks for the help

In general, i look at the likelihood of replacing the player's future value with the pick.

You trade a youngish wr1, your likelihood of replacing of replacing him with a 2nd would be fairly low. Now, if he's an aging player that would be easier to replace with the 2nd.

I'm wrestling with a similar issue in a contract salary cap league. I can get murray for a first but he only has a one year deal and would have to be franchised at a very high price to keep him next year.

Otoh, in another league I'm looking to trade Lynch with a one year deal but he can be declared restricted (different rules) which could give the comp of a 16 1st, so I'm seeking a first for him.
