**Streaming Defense** Weeks 14-16 FF Playoffs (4 Viewers)

Do you guys like Mia or Philly better this week?  Philly on the road hasn't been tearing it up.  They did limit the Falcons, but that was Atlanta's 2nd week in a row on the road....good spot for Philly.  Is Mia any good defensively....last 2 games with a score (or return).

I've been riding Philly most of the season in two different leagues. In one, I picked up Miami and am starting them. In another, they were already gone, so I'm sticking with Philly.

One thing to keep in mind: The league where I'm benching them is D only, the other is D/ST. That makes a difference, since Philly has the best ST in the league (which doesn't necessarily translate into fantasy production, but it doesn't hurt).

I think the Seattle match-up is a lot tougher than it looked a couple weeks ago, but one silver lining is that Seattle's biggest weakness (line play) is Philly D's biggest strength.

Have the same play in 3 leagues w PHI D/ST and managed to land MIA in a league where I need to win. The gamble here is on Goff and Miami's improved play overall. The defense was impressive in SD last week and now face a sorry LA offense. Seems like a no brainer but I was burned bad by the great Miami vs Browns game earlier in the year. PHI can hit on STs at any time but I think that Seattle is kicking things into high gear. Wilson has been very good. Tough call but I tend to lean on Miami vs the rookie.

The more and more I think about it the more I'm off LA this week and likely the rest of the season.

Tannehill hasn't thrown an INT in 4 games, if he doesn't this week it will actually be a MIA record. MIA is wisely taking the air out of the ball and leaning on Ajayi, minimizing the chances for Tannheill to #### up.

If Goff looks anything like he did during the preseason, he isn't ready. Gurley isn't doing ####, this offense is going to suck and won't be able to sustain drives. Although LA's defense has been playing really well, Goff is going to hurt them.

LA's remaining schedule is also awful so they're probably generally droppable.

I'd rather role with OAK, DET, PIT and probably even more unconventional options this week.

Like the G-Men you mean?

I flat out DROPPED Philly D.  They have absolutely sucked last 3 weeks.  Killing me.  And their schedule rest of the way is not very friendly either.

Seattle no way.  GB no way.  Cincy maybe but not great.  Was no way.  They sucked vs Washington earlier in the year.  @ Bal might be decent.  Home vs. NYG...eh.

I picked up Miami for this week.  Who knows.  Goff might light it up but I'll take my chances that he will be a typical rookie making tons of rookie mistakes against a decent defense.  Miami has a good schedule moving forward too.  I plan to hold miami and stream around them rest of the way.

I love LA this week. Miami is down two offensive linemen. I agree their schedule after this is horrible and are droppable.

Starting to come around on this myself. LA is not a bad D -- I think they can still perform. The problem for me, as you point out, is the matchups more than anything else. 3 tough road games against opponents who can put up points (@NO, @NE, @SEA) and their home games are against one of the highest scoring O's going (ATL) -- the SF matchup at home WK 16 is solid, but not worth stashing LA for the long haul.

My view might change depending on Goff's performance -- I've seen rook QBs come in and stink it up, and have also seen the opposite.

Coming to like the pair of SD and MIA through ROS -- plenty of winnable games where scoring might be low.

I am doing this exact maneuver in one league.  Truth be told, I wish I had acted sooner in another league, as I had to settle for the GMEN there and would have rather had Miami there.

I thought I was set a few weeks ago in most leagues, but every defense I had has apparently decided to not take the field the last few weeks, even MIN has gotten bad and I cut them in the one small $$$ league I had them in to boot.   :wall:

Oh well, this thread is going to be popular with me as the playoffs approach~!

Looks like I will make the playoffs in in my league, which are weeks 15-16.

I own MIN and BUF (plays CLE in week 15).

Should I dump MIN (plays GB in week 16) and pick up either:

(1) SD (plays CLE in week 16) or

(2) TEN (plays JAX in week 16)

Congrats on making the playoffs. I have a solid chance in 4/4 essentially all my leagues, but none are locked up yet, though I may clinch in my biggest today if I am lucky. One will come down to the last week almost certainly.

Anyway to answer your question a couple things came up immediately when I saw this.

I would personally be leaning to getting TEN at this point, but its close.

A major reason why is SD is @ CLE in a 1:00 p.m. start.  So we have a road early game for the defense. The old "west coast coming east for an early tilt" rears its head again, and I am combining that with.....one would think??? that perhaps by week 16 Cleveland has Kessler performing a bit better by that time. He will have time to build chemistry with his WRs, and in generally should be more comfortable and efficient by then.

I think its pretty close, but the above two reasons would persuade me  to take TEN vs. JAX at this point.

But you should keep your eyes on your waiver wire, odds are there will be another play that appears in the next week or so as other defenses hit the wire.

I have similar situation with Min. If they can't get it done this weekend they will get kicked to the curb

I don't see GB as that much of a threat unless they can turn things around

If you have followed my posts, I did the same thing with MIN, I just flat dropped them last week.

Its getting that time of year where points seemingly tend to get more important.

I know they were hot as Hell fire early on in the season, but I believe I wrote earlier they averaged a tidy 4 points a week, for the last 4 weeks.

Thats just not getting it done, and I picked up NYG in their place.  Good riddance.

In the last 2-3 years I am much more quick to drop one of these under-performing defenses. Three weeks seems to be the point where I say "WTF is going on here" and I move on, unless its an extreme scenario. (like an obvious top defense, in the middle of an obvious bad stretch) Even then I try and get someone else to fill in while the seas are rough.

This thread, a few others opinions, and also confidence in my own streaming picks have helped.  I just don't tie myself on to mediocre defenses anymore, simply because "it doesn't look like a whole lot is out there".

I had Giants myself but dropped em. They have 2 good matchups next 2 weeks. Heavy faves to get picked backup

#### it. I'm rolling with Philly @SEA. They just shut down the best offense in the NFL and Seattle's O-line is hot trash.

These are definitely one of the things to keep in mind with the Eagles.  Even when matchups might not look great overall, they will annihilate teams with weaknesses in the O-Line.  I am not rolling with them this week because I think Wilson is crafty enough to overcome it for the most part, but there is definitely a possibility of a good game for the Eagles D.

Looks like the correct answer wasn't "Miami against Goff," but rather "St. Louis WITH Goff."

Working on a shutout...

I have a ton of defenses already picked up in my league so not much left on the wire.  Falcons are available for Week 12.  Thinking of picking them up against Arizona at home coming off a bye week to rest, plus it looks like they have a good schedule in weeks 14 (@LA) and 15 (SF).  It looks like they have been up and down (mostly down) -- does anyone have thoughts on the Falcons D going forward?

Im leaning towards San Diego... anyone have thoughts on them vs Houston.  SD coming off bye and Houston coming off MNF in Mexico.

Don't laugh...

...New Orleans.

The last couple of weeks that D has looked different. Getting healthier. Harassed the hell out of Cam and shut down Stewart...on the road of all places.

And now they face a rookie QB at home.

And now add the Steelers to the list. Luck "highly unlikely" to play after entering the concussion protocol.

What a crazy injury week.

Keeping the lions vs min in one league. Rolling with either SD vs HOU or TEN vs CHI in my other. NO vs LA isn't a bad option either IMO.

Shooting for TEN @ The Bad News Bears. After 25 years of playing FF I have never had such low totals with D/ST and this is across three teams. Passed on Minny in two leagues to build depth in other areas and got burned.

Too many options this week and pressure to make the right decision  --I have Mia and SD -- leaning SD --but NYG, Bmore, Det and Tenn available too ---

The Vikings won me my game last week but now I'm trying to decide if this is a bad matchup for them and go with the likes of the Titans or Texans instead?

Thinking of dropping New England and picking up Tenn & Hou to stream (both play Jax during my league playoffs).  NE has a better schedule on paper but they have really been unimpressive even in plus match-ups.

I'll take the 8 points they got me this week against the 49ers. Their schedule doesn't get any harder going forward so I'm probably going to keep them the rest of the year.

NYG with 8 interceptions in 5 of their last 6 games (4 in LA game) + 14 sacks over that period  + a few blocked kicks

Clev 4th in giving up points to defense -- hmmmmm

I mean obviously get anyone playing the Browns. I got 34 pts from Pitt this week after just picking them up.

Week 12 I have Eagles at home vs the nose diving Pack or Pitt vs Luckless in Indy.  Tough call.

Yeah, I have been wanting to get on the Pats bandwagon because they have a good schedule but they just don't create points. It seems like there are a lot better streaming options.

I grabbed the Giants last week for this week's matchup. I am looking for playoff match ups. I put in for the bills since they face Cleveland wk 15. You make a good point about Houston and Tenn.

Same boat -- holding MIA and SD as I like their combined schedule, and I think I'm sticking with MIA this week, though the Giants look mighty tasty.
