Slow Horses (Apple) > The Old Man (Hulu)
IMHO

That opinion may change after two full seasons whenever that may be.
Here's a criticism I've never pointed out before; The Old Man seemed to me to have way too much long dialogue, which led me to lose interest from scene to scene.
Although the first episode had me hooked and held my interest just enough to watch it all the way through.

Slow Horses has an interesting concept of a bunch of rejects running around figuring stuff out but doing it in a way that was interesting without coming across as bumbling idiots.

Just started My Brilliant Friend based on recs in here. It's so sad but really good.
Anyone watching "This Fool" on Hulu? Pretty funny stuff. I'm not sure the main character looks nerdy enough but I like all the gangster characters so far.

Reservation Dogs on FX - great show, esp looking into native culture.

Paper girls - has a stranger things / handmaids tale / back to the future vibe - Liked it. Purely watched it because Ali Wong was involved.

Finally finished The Bear. It was a struggle at times to get through, mostly because I'm not a fan of a lot of yelling, but the ending was good and will have me considering watching a second season because of where it's going.

Any answer to how the money get where it was? And how many can openers does a place like that usually have? lol

Need some recommendations on Amazon or Netflix shows for my in-laws. He has some mild cognitive issues and gets confused if timelines are not linear. Series where the episodes stand alone tend to be preferred, i.e. more like Law and Order and less like Breaking Bad. They liked 'The Old Man' recently, but he even complained about the timeline shifts in that. We're not looking for high quality programming here, they also have been watching all the episodes of 'Castle'. In fact shows like Castle, NCIS, etc. would be just about perfect.

Thanks.

The Mentalist. I kind of liked that show.

As someone mentioned Mentalist is a good choice but I think it's only on HBOMax. Some others are:

Criminal Minds
Psych
CSI
Longmire
Lie to Me
Bones

I will second Reservation Dogs on Hulu. Second season is coming out weekly, and each episode has laughs and feels. It really feels like eavesdropping on the lives of kids coming of age on the Rez.

Its so good. It is really funny and really sad and a little strange. And great.
I just love that it accurately represents native life on the reservation and gives a look into a culture different from my own.

Beavis and butthead reboot - not trying to troll but the comedic elements are very simple but still pack a punch

If they are into sports at all, Sunderland Till I Die and Formula 1 Drive to Survive are both EXCELLENT documentaries. Lots of swearing if that is a problem, but the storytelling in both is phenomenal. Subtitles are helpful for both.

My wife has the same issue, only without the cognitive decline.

Anyone else here watch Evil? It’s on Paramount Plus. I just started the 2nd season and it’s interesting and occasionally funny imo.
Watched the first season and thought it was interesting. Disappointed it was moved to Paramount+ and haven't watched since it moved.

I read somewhere that one of the early episodes showed a canner.

find it hard to believe it got renewed. It was really bad.

The reviews were overwhelmingly positive. Certainly not a show for everyone. I can see how people could find it silly and cringeworthy.
Agreed.

I honestly thought at one point there was something going to go on further with he and Remy's Mom because he felt so guilty for what he did to Remy.

So all the reviews I have read and on Twitter - everyone assumes that the Remy stuff was real. I do too. But … are we sure?

Finished The Terminal List. Quite "hard to believe" in many parts, but still a fun ride.

Plot twist at the end was kind of a "no duh".

Wondering where things go for S2. I know it's a book adaptation but I don't read. :oldunsure:

"I've read that but once you open the can, air gets in and it would probably spoil pretty quickly. Another theory I read was that the initials KBL, that Carm saw in the ledger apparently was also on the bottom of one of the cans and there was a scene where it showed his father in a pic wearing a jacket with the letters KBL on it. So the thinking was there is a canning company involved where they were putting it in to begin with, not after the fact."]

If it’s fake, Remy is among the greatest child actors of all time.

Final Ep of The Rehearsal was :ROFLMAO: and :crying: all together. Wow, what a series
HBO announced it’s been renewed for a season 2. I’m not sure how I feel about that. It will be hard to top this season.
Definitely will be a challenge. This is one of the deepest shows I've ever seen. Was nothing like his previous two shows.
Felt so bad for Dr. Farts :(
That was the best part of the show!

You guys sensing a pattern here?

Very new KDrama (debuted June 29) which has been setting ratings records in ROK.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

We’re up to 6 episodes, it’s brilliant. The lead character is a rookie attorney with autism (IQ 164), encyclopedic knowledge of whales, started memorizing law textbooks as a child.

Feel good comedy with occasional moral dilemma.
This is a great show, you just can’t help but root for Attorney Woo. Hard to believe she is the same actress who starred in The King’s Affection. I didn’t recognize her at first.
Loving this show. Great premise and the acting is quite good. And somehow every actress in Korea is a complete smoke show.

Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies. - Paramount+. Suuuuuucks. I know it sounds awful, but you never know when you’ll get surprised, like with Tucker & Dale vs. Evil or Cockneys vs. Zombies… but this was a piece of crap.

Anybody watching the new A League of Their Own series? Not at all what I expected as it is nothing like the movie. The story has kept my interest thus far but the CGI baseball stuff is terrible.

Manti only and probably the biggest problem was not admitting from the beginning they only met online and never in person. I get that he was embarrassed by it and is understandable but that "lie" turned everyone into thinking he was in on it

I agree. I thought it was a good doc.

I remember at the time wondering how anyone could be so naive. But now, learning that he came from a fairly strict Mormon family, it makes a little more sense. Some of those families are very insular.

I kind of feel like everyone in this show is an actor, and that at the end we'll find out that we're the subject of the rehearsal.

Woodstock 99 doc was well done. For some reason I barely remember this happening. Was it washed over in the news?
