Why is this so difficult for so many head coaches? Challenges are valuable, TOs are valuable, don't waste them unless you are sure. As a Saint fan, I've seen many terrible challenges from both Haslett and Payton. It just seems that coaches challenge plays they wish happened differently, rather than challenging when they can actually win. It's not like they don't have 8000 coaches who can tell them if they should challenge. I don't think Head Coaches should carry the challenge flag, they are too emotional.

Obviously this is regarding the terrible challenge by Del Rio.

I'm just speaking as a Saint fan, I'm sure there are plenty of bad challenging coaches. I remember Billick making a few bad challenges.

I thought it was a terrible challenge but I think he may have partially made it to give them more time to get ready for the next play. I think only needed 15 yards to get into FG range and they weren't worried about the time.

They were at the 50 with 2:30 left in the game, they did not NEED the timeout, so I felt he had nothing to lose and it gave them extra time to discuss their plan of action.

I think it's much easier for us sitting at home watching the game on TV to see what happened than it is for the coaches on the sidelines.

They were at the 50 with 2:30 left in the game, they did not NEED the timeout, so I felt he had nothing to lose and it gave them extra time to discuss their plan of action.

It was a good challenge. They did not need the TO and with 2:30 left they would lose the use of that challenge at 2:00. If they win the challenge - Game Over.
