Svs just arrived. 

First off the thing is freaking huge.

just set it up with my Audyssey. So far, I can't tell yet only because I watched one movie for 10 minutes. Wasn't as much boom as expected.

that being said.I'll need to rearrange my basement. It sticks out

After you rearrange your basement rerun Audyssey as the moved furniture will change the sound reflections.

Yep. I put it in the spot of the old one. Then ran it. I need to move it to the corner I think, but have a cabinet there.

Wish i would have seen this earlier -  Velodyne is the way to go - http://velodyne.com/subwoofers/impact-12.html - This thing is by far the best sub i have ever owned.  

ETA:  10" subs just don't have the same "punch" as a 12 or 15.  I used to have the sufire (http://www.sunfire.com/productdetail.asp?id=9 bought used for 500 ish) and it just didn't hit those low notes when playing music/watching movies.  Hope you like the SVS.

Side question. ...

i read tons of stuff about Audyssey and then changing my front speakers to small instead of large. Changing the crossovers frequency etc.

You guys still do that or leave it as be when it auto sets up

If Audyssey (depends on the version - the first version it may be a  good idea to go back in and set them small) sets them to large they should be able to handle what is automatically set. You can always go in and change it back and forth and see what you think sounds the best.

I actually keep them as large (recieved send more power) but cross the over as a mid.

Still tweaking but this thing is way better than my old sub.  So awesome
