**Sunday Night Football - Chiefs at Jets** (+7.5, 41.5) 8:20 Kickoff (1 Viewer)

If Saleh don't go after the NFL and Goddell is the post game, he is a wimp.
Please. They had chances they blew.

Sick of the "refs cost us the game" narrative.

We get it dude. You're a ref. They're never wrong.
I just called out 2 bad calls, one no one else is even talking about.

Blaming refs is a loser mentality.

Jets are a losing franchise. Always have been, probably always will be.

Calls like that "hold" on Sauce Gardner make it that much harder to turn that around. They made a stop. They "won". (that possession. They obviously would have needed to score to win the game and I still dont think Zach makes that happen) It was stolen from them.

I mean.....its absolutely hilarious that gets called. Just absolute robbery given how this game has been played.

Nobody cares if the Jets win 3 games or 4 games. But god forbid the AFC title game isn't played at arrowhead with Tay-Tay in attendance.

Total joke. Blatant offensive holds every time Mahomes "escapes" but that gets called. Nonsense.
Do you really think they're still gonna be dating in 3 months? LOL
No. And there will be a song about him on her next record.
So excited

Where they ahead at that point?

Wilson would've just found a way to screw it up. The refs did him a favor.

Stop. I need to get to sleep.

Have a good night everyone.

Thanks again to Mahomes for that $820 slide. :wall:
I feel your pain. Kelce not scoring screwed my 5 leg parlay.
Yeah, but he had the easy 6.

I wish the defender had grabbed him & pulled him into the end zone to give the Jets a last drive.

Sigh

I hit one 4-teamer today, so I finished in the black, but that extra 8 bills woulda been nice.

Sigh

zero accountability for the NFL refs
How do you know what accountability they face?

They get graded on every single call on if it is correct, marginal or incorrect and also assigned a no call downgrade if they miss something or given downgrades for incorrect mechanics. Terrible errors or egregious mistakes can get them suspended.

All performances are evaluated and effect end of season playoff assignments.

What would you like to see different?

What a joke. The Chiefs really are the new Patriots, getting every crucial call at the right time to help them out. The NFL doesn't even try to hide it.
It sure looked like a penalty
So did the blatant hold on Mahomes scramble for the 1st down earlier in the drive, yet somehow no official saw that.

And the flag on that "hold" just now came out after the official saw the ball get picked. In other words, the official saw it and didn't immediately throw the flag, but then was like, "Oh, the ball was picked, I better throw it!"
That guy wasn't trying to get away and just held his hands up begging for the call. They never call that.
This was a bad miss. The angle we had live mDe it extremely obvious. He held the guy for a long time. The Defender was hitting him in the head to try and get him to let go 😂

mugging

I'm telling you, at every level of serious football, refs are told not to call that a hold. You call that and coaches will come unglued on you.

If you see the guy getting turned 180 degrees and the jersey stretching it gets called. I just assume they didn’t see it.

Turned 180? They never disengaged and are face to face. Watch the feet. Defender never works to the outside of the OL frame and gets driven backward.

this....the people that don't actually ever put a whistle in their mouth never really understand what it takes to get to the highest level of officiating ANY sport.... easy to be on a keyboard and *****....and they dont know what an honor it is to get to the highest level ....they have no clue and have never put on the stripes and had a whistle in their mouth or a flag in their pocket.....from 3rd grade **** to middle school to high school...to JUCO...to DIV III to DIV III....the meetings you go to on your own time ....the tests you have to take....the equipment and uniforms you buy on your own....the nights when you leave your family to go and try to provide a service...for those complaining....go search the internet and youtube and actually take the time to see what these guys do to prepare....are they still going to miss stuff or make a bad call....you bet....nobody is perfect at their job.....are you...?...

sauce held and disrupted the route....Salah going to go ape ****.....but Reid could have done the same on the phantom horse collar that led to a TD...would have totally changed that possession too....but all anybody will want to talk about is the sauce play....refs hate missing calls....there is no agenda....you don't get to the highest level of officiating if you have an agenda and miss calls....these guys are the best of the best but will still make mistakes or have their "judgement" questioned.....will happen again next week and the week after that and so on.....if you take a step back....they actually do a pretty good job at such a high speed inch by inch game....

We can agree to disagree. That looked like a bad missed call to me.

Here is the problem with the Sauce hold: as noted by the announcers, the officials had been letting them play all game. It's like with balls and strikes in baseball. The officials/umps set the standard early for how that game will be called, and it is up to the players to adjust. They let a lot go last night and then decided in a crucial moment to throw a flag on a play that wouldn't have been called the first 3 1/2 quarters based on how they were calling that game with regards to defensive holding/PI. Consistency is all we ask for, and the officials crapped the bed in that moment, but I am sure the "the refs always want to get it right" crowd, who are probably the same people who would defend Angel Hernandez in your nearest MLB thread, will still have their backs.

And the sad thing is, does anyone think Zach Wilson leads the Jets down the field for the win? I don't. But his chance was taken away after the defense had made the stop. That is what sucks. That's a terrible way for a game being watched by many to end.

The only problem with the hold, no hold is that the Super Bowl ended on a similar penalty last year.

I'm not saying the Chiefs get all the calls, but there does seem to be some implicit bias towards them.

As far as people upset the Chiefs didn't cover based on that slide, welcome to gambling. ;) The beats get much worse than that.

You cannot defend Angel Hernandez...he's that bad.

the jets get zero calls and rightfully so, it is how things go in all sports. maybe make the playoffs this century and become part of the nfl. it is frustrating as a jet fan, but they have earned a lack of respect.

happened to the Lions for decades, they'd pull out obscure rules no one ever heard of (& would get changed in the next offseason), send the Fords apology letters on Wednesday saying they got the call wrong, gaslight the fans. now they're getting those same kind of calls which is a whole new kind of annoying.

how D.J. Reed miss him here?

It’s a weird feeling when your team starts getting calls. After all of the uproar on how deep KC’s right tackle was lining up during Week 1, I had to chuckle a bit watching Buffalo’s RT line up pretty deep quite a few times yesterday.

Of course, it’s still frustrating when it comes playoff time and suddenly it flips again because, while your team is good, they’re not “Michael Jordan in his prime getting the calls” good so you watch Mahomes get the calls while you watch in dismay. Only now you can’t even say anything because someone will just pipe in with “yeah, but remember in the wild card round last week when your team got away with XYZ?”

100%. And the folks in here bringing the “I’m a ref” angle know this as well as or better than anyone else in here.

Of course, using this standard nobody should be upset the Chiefs LT wasn’t called for holding on the Mahomes run, since refs stopped flagging the Chiefs for holding a few years ago. :)

how D.J. Reed miss him here?

I've said this for a while about Mahomes. Dont get me wrong....the guys is an INCREDIBLE talent who can do things we just haven't seen before. But I think a lot of his escapes and last second side-arm stuff work at least partially because of how protected QB's are now. Guys pull up (or in this case, veer off) because they dont want to get flagged. He throws a little fake and guys worry that if they hit him hard, they'll get popped for roughing. (especially near the sideline)

One of the reasons that I think any sort of fake slide should be a penalty. I recognize that would be an incredibly tough rule to enforce (there can be a very gray area between "fake slide" and some sort of subtle cut/juke move if done right) but I'd like to see it. However, since something like that would lower scoring and potentially lead to move QB injuries, i fully understand it will NEVER happen.

The non-holding call on the long Mahomes run was terrible, but there was a hold in the secondary so at best, they offset and replay the down. 3rd and long, which the Jets have been notoriously bad at stopping. The holding call on Sauce was a hold, but it occurred in a game where the refs let a lot go, well before the interception, and well before the ref threw the flag. It sure looked like the ref was waiting to see the outcome of the play before throwing his flag. Above all else, great teams get game changing calls and great QBs get protected - it's the new NFL.

Todd Gurley cost me a trip to the playoffs on a play just like that.

This sucked even more.
I think I've mentioned this before, but Peyton Manning once cost a leaguemate a league title by not taking the easy TD. In a total points league. Where both teams scored more than 3000 points over the course of the season. The guy lost by five points. Five. All Manning had to do was fall into the end zone.

What I didn't mention before was the guy never won the league in its 25 years of existence. That was as close as he got. The league disbanded and he passed away a couple years ago (COVID).

Mahomes cost me a win where I would have won by .1, assuming the Jets didn't go down and kick a meaningless FG trying to set up an onsides kick.

Mahomes cost you $800.

I would argue my friend had a worse beat than either of us.
