They’ve only worn this twice before. Once in 1976 (bicentennial) and a couple years ago I think. I only know this because they were an option in one of the very old ESPN2K football games and I looked it up back then .

Nah, the stripe didn't bother me and looked retro, as it apparently was. Don't forget, the 1976 bicentennial was huge. Lots of red, white, and blue were incorporated into consumer products and athletic uniforms. Nothing like selling independence, I guess. And sports.
