Sunday Ticket subscribers vs NFL (2 Viewers)

:Slowly raise Jolly Roger:

Yo, ho, ho!

$489???!? Plus a youtubetv sub for 60-70 per month.

I think not.
Like the govt giving out stimulus and everyone saying inflation will skyrocket after it.
They may (may) give it out but they'll get it back.

Sorry to go political in SP

Verdict overturned today. The Court of Appeals ruled two of the plaintiffs’ damages experts used a flawed methodology, rendering the jury’s determination on the outrageous damages award to be also flawed as a matter of law.

edit: not court of appeals. This was the district court judge, probably on a post-verdict motion. I’m not sure how that testimony got in to begin with but here we are …

I really feel like I need more info. Seems bizarre that the testimony was allowed to begin with if it was flawed. And the judge can just throw things out after the fact? Did the defense object to the testimony at the time? Also seems weird to me to toss the entire thing based on flawed testimony as to the damages instead of reducing the damage award.

I’m guessing this is 100% getting appealed and seems likely that this isn’t over IMO.

It doesn't seem to matter what tangent you take in how you think of this- it's upsetting.

A guess but going by sportico, I think this is the testimony

Waiting for PFT as Mike paid a lot for the transcripts and will surely have an opinion on this

Here’s a short discussion about it from a good lawyer I follow, including a link to the opinion. It is an extraordinary ruling but I would say not unheard of.

Not directly related to the lawsuit but, WHOAH!!?!

The #NFL has made its NFL Sunday Ticket service available on the Apple App Store for $679.99, with an option to add NFL RedZone for $739.99.

Is anyone going to pay this price?

Just got this email:

We hope you enjoy your gift: 6 months of DIRECTV Sports Pack, which includes NFL RedZone from NFL Network (Ch. 211) and NFL Network (Ch. 212)!

This is our way of saying thanks to our sports fans. There's nothing you need to do—DIRECTV Sports Pack has been automatically added to your account at no extra cost and will be removed from your account at the end of the NFL season.

DIRECTV. KEEPING YOU IN THE GAME.

Interesting...

I called.......they said too bad, if you didn't receive the email then you don't get the free Sports Pack

I just got it also. I was planning on buying it but I guess I'll have to take it for free. If I remember right it was less than $10 per month.

Yea. I personally don't need the ST, RZ does me just fine. I'll always take free RZ.

canceled DirecTV this week after many years of service, got the ST bundle on YTTV. after 12 months i'll be net ahead about a hundred bucks, so dollar wise no brainer. looks like i wont be missing any channels either. disappointed though the package didn't include RZ, will be paying for their sport package for four months to get that, math already included this.

side note, did you know DirecTV now offers a stream version of their service without satellite? they offered this to me as a cheaper option, not sure it's available everywhere, but something worth looking into if you pay full price for their satellite packages.

There’s finally now a standalone RZ channel available thru sports pack on DTV? Where was this many years ago?

For those of you switching to YTTV, it’s very solid. Channel flipping takes a little getting used to, and isn’t perfect, but I sure don’t miss DVR equipment and annual talks with DTV.

Granted I'm a pessimist here but I think this is "we need more money for when that lawsuit is reversed."

This is flying under the radar here but is a potential bombshell. What happens when PIF, with $925bln in assets, buys an NFL team? It’s already happening in the Euro soccer world and lots of people are very unhappy, mostly the traditionalists and old school fans who resent what their clubs have become.

RZ on DTV is channel 211.

Florio is essentially writing that the appeals process has begun (filing) and unless there's a settlement there will be another appeal.

My guess- the only thing that happens from this.
Possible settlement
Three panel judges look cross-eyed at prior judge overriding (idk term) the verdict and retiring.
