Super Bowl LIII odds (Feb 3, 2019 in Atlanta) who ya got? (1 Viewer)

Here’s why I don’t like the Eagles to repeat:

Defilippo leaving to the Vikings.  He is an amazing coach he basically coached the league MVP, and turned Foles into the Super Bowl MVP.  He really deserves to be a head coach, as no one has accomplished what he did this year.  A difficult person to replace.

Reich has been a rising star in the past two years.  I be shocked if he is not coaching the colts.  He has been a difference maker for the Eagles.

Your going to put the Super Bowl MVP on the bench and only pay him about 7m?  Sure he is a happy camper now, but lets see after  cousins gets about 30m a year, and if the Vikings tag case he gets 21m, I bet bad knees Bradford makes more next year then Foles. You can trade him but he seems he is a needed insurance policy, but greatly under paid.

I loveAjayi a real spark to the team, but that bone on bone knee will not last forever, even in a rb committee.

Rumors from friends who live in Philly that some players want new contracts, typical after a Sb win. I don’t have a link to this.

compaines are rushing to Eagle players for endorsements, it’s easy to lose just a little focus when everyone says your the best ever, and everyone wants to throw cash at you.

I hope Eagle fans don’t take this the wrong way, your team had an AMAZING year.  Lead by some of the best coaches in the NFL.  I will not be shocked to see the Eagles repeat, but a lot of moving parts going forward.

But enjoy your victory how sweet it must feel!
Agree with most of these. There are going to be some hurdles and of course anyone betting would take the field vs the Eagles to win the Sb. However, we also have improvements we will make too (qb, Lt, mlb). You have to at least think we have a good shot at a bye, which is only 2 wins away from being in the Sb. It'll be tough but I don't see us missing the playoffs.

The only point of yours I disagree with is Reich. I reallllly want him to stay but with defilippo running the qbs, and Doug calling all the plays, I'm not sure JUST how big of a loss he'd be.

DeFilippo already left. He's the new Vikes OC.

I'm aware. I'm saying the fact that defilippo did all the qb work, and Doug all the plays, I wonder how much of a loss Reich would really be.
So what was Reich’s biggest contribution?  I’m asking with complete ignorance here.  Did he help to set up the offensive playbook?  Was he primarily involved with game preparation from a week to week basis?  Just a consultant for Doug?

OC

Panthers 25/1.  Seems about right.  If they can figure out their wide receiver predictiment then they probably will be one of the favorites I would think.

Titans at 50 with a better offensive plan is enticing. Browns at 200 on the off chance that they get Cousins and a few other strong FAs with their tons of cap space and 2 defensive studs in the top 5.

I know I went all NFC earlier but Houston (20-1) could be the 49ers of the AFC. All depends on the QB being healthy again.

He as the glue to the Eagles offensive.  He is considered one of the top offensive coordinators in the NFL, thus the Colts would love him.  Not one of the guys that say look at me, but the guy that puts together the x & o’s for the weekly offensive game plan.  No doubt he deserves to be a NFL head coach, but if he leaves he will be missed.

the Browns will be better but they are not going from 1-31 to winning a SuperBowl even if the add Cousins (who is a career .500ish QB).

Broncos 40 - they need a qb so badly.  Oh wait, there's a franchise qb coming on the market.  The defense is still top notch and would be better with an offense that wasn't terrible.  They could make a big leap.
I don't think people truly appreciate two things:

a) how different that defense is from two years ago both in terms of players and coaching

b) how "well" elway has been drafting the last several years

Put either Bortles or Keenum on the broncos team from last season and they would have..... 6 wins? Fewer? I don't think I've ever seen elway destroy a defense faster than he has this bronco defense, and yes I remember the Cleveland game he played in. Now he's pushing Talib out the door because if there's one thing you don't need in today's NFL it's high caliber CB play. I'm really hoping elway makes Cousins the highest paid player in NFL history because that means Sanders and at least CJ Anderson are gone as well. There's even a chance they void the D.Thomas contract if he won't accept a pay-cut. If there is one thing we know it's Cousins excels when he has no weapons around him.

I guess it makes sense with the strength of the best AFC teams but it seems odd that 7 of the bottom 10 are AFC teams.
In particular the Bills and Bengals could very easily get into the playoffs in the AFC, and once you're in anything can happen.

As you mention the Jets aren't as bad as people think. They did not play that badly when you consider their top passer had under 3k passing yards, their top rusher had under 800 rushing yards, and their top receiver had under 1k yards. I could easily see a scenario where they have new starters/leaders in all three categories that eclipse the production last year even if they draft defense in round 1. That defense is young and talented. Not as talented as the JAX defense but it took a year or so for that young defense to gel. I'm a big believer in Leonard Williams and Jamal Adams being building blocks that will continue to improve.

If I were looking for a LONG long shot it would likely be one of those three.

At 50-1 the Ravens offer good value. We can debate the merits of them failing to defend a 4th down Andy Dalton pass, but they had a hellacious defense last season, a great running game with Collins, and looked pretty powerful the second half of the season, a team nobody wanted to meet in the playoffs. Also, they have shown they can beat New England in the playoffs. You could do worse at 50-1.
