Pittsburgh lost the soul of their team in Bettis. I don't see the inspiration coming from them. Sorry guys, I simply don't see them being hungry enough to repeat.
This may be true. I'm a Steeler homer and I must say I don't like the way things are going as of right now. It's a long season but we just don't seem very sharp and were lacking energy. I watched the Cincy preseason game tonight and they seem as if there a team on a mission.AFC East --PatriotsAFC North -- CincyAFC South -- Indy AFC West -- Kansas CityNFC East -- GiantsNFC North -- MinnesotaNFC South -- Carolina NFC West -- SeattleCincy vs Giants in SB Giants Win

IMO, the only championchip game participants from last year to get better are Denver and Carolina - Denver added the missing piece to the puzzle in Walker, and the only significant personel losses were Kubiak, MAnderson, and TPrice. All of these departures have been filled, to what degree remains to be seen.Pittsburgh lost the soul of their team in Bettis. I don't see the inspiration coming from them. Sorry guys, I simply don't see them being hungry enough to repeat.Seattle lost Hutchinson. I'm not sure how big that will be or how that hole will be plugged. They are in the easy division, so I expect them to race through the regular season with ease. Too much ease, pehaps. I can't quite place my finger on it, I jsut think that Seattle is on the brink of a post season 2006 collapse.Carolina, on the other hand, has depth at RB, and has vound a compliment to SSmith. They will be tested and will battle-hardened come playoff time.So - I say Denver over Carolina.
I'll take Julian Peterson and Ken Hamlin's return to form over Steve Hutchinson any day.Seattle over Denver though in the super bowl.

I love the bears, but i'm afraid the best team out of the NFC is back.....the Eagles are headed back with a healthy team, and most importantly a healthy mcnabb and a healthy defense.....Eagles over Bears in NFC championship and Eagles over Colts in the Super Bowl

The Steelers, especially Roethlisberger, looked lousy last preseason, the Colts were 0-5 and the Browns were 3-1. I am not syaing that I like the way the Steelers have looked or that I wasn't impressed with the Bengals last night but the preseason means NOTHING. I think the NFC is going to come down to Carolina and Seattle. If Carolina stays healthy I'll give the edge to them. The AFC is a toss-up. The best teams are the Colts, Bengals, Broncos, Jaguars and Steelers and you can never count out the Patriots. But they all have weaknesses so I don't see a clear cut front-runner. In addition I think the Dolphins, Chargers, Chiefs and Ravens all have outside shots as well. The Colts schedule doesn't look too bad so I'll go with Manning to finally make it.Super Bowl XLI: Colts vs Panthers. Panthers win it all...

Colts over Seahawks

I pick the Colts every year and am always wrong. Their running game looks a bit anemic this year, so maybe I should back down.

I think the Broncos, Steelers, Bengals, Giants, and Panthers are all good candidates too. And I've got to throw in the Patiots for pure tenacity and coaching.

In the NFC, like a ton of other people, I like the Panthers.

My darkhorse - OK, so maybe they aren't THAT dark - is the Bears, but only if Brian Griese takes over at QB at some point in the season. They already have the defense and running game it'll take to win, and I think that Griese would add enough to the passing game that they'd be a tough team to beat in the playoffs. I expect them to win that division and have at least one home playoff game.

The AFC is stacked, again. Lots of teams with a chance to make it.

While I haven't been encouraged by what I've seen of the Steelers this preseason, it's just that... preseason. From a personnel standpoint, replacing the losses of Bettis, Kimo, Randle El, and Hope isn't that tall an order, but I'm a bit concerned about the depth at RB and Ward's hamstring. The loss of Bettis will be felt in the huddle and locker room more than on the field, and I'm confident these guys can overcome that kind of loss.

I still don't believe the Bengals have the defense to make it, and that'll end up haunting them in the playoffs. The offense sure is impressive, though.

I'm sure the Colts will be right there again, but if a team lines up and smacks them around in the playoffs like the Steelers did last year, I still wonder if they'll have what it takes to respond.

While I like the Broncos, I'd have a hard time predicting Jake Plummer leading a team to the Super Bowl. The Steelers dominated them so thoroughly in last year's AFCC that I don't think Javon Walker would've been the difference in the game. Can Mike Bell produce like Mike Anderson did? Can Tatum carry the load if Bell can't?

The Pats can't be counted out, but they've got a ton of questions, too.

Lots of good teams with a chance in the AFC, and I'd struggle to pick a favorite right now.

Patriots over the Cardinals

In a Kurt Warner rematch, the Patriots beat him up even worse then last time, putting him on the sideline by the half. Out trots Matt Leinart to the sounds of Wild Thing pumping. He has a decent start, but Jr. Seau plants him so hard we later find out he played the rest of the game with a mild concussion and he doesn't remember it.

Seattle over New England

As much as I like Carolina, I don't see anyone going to Seattle in the playoffs and coming out a victor. Seattle should win NFC home field adv. AFC is wide open imo.

Seattle over Cincinnati

I think it is a repeat of last season with Seattle getting home field in the NFC and knocking off Carolina in the NFC Championship.

Cincinnati defeats New England in the AFC Championship. I personally think Cincy would have knocked Pitt out in the first round last year had Palmer not been injured. I think the team has had an additional year to gel and will build on last year's success. However, Seattle's experience in the Super Bowl will pay dividends this season.
